plastic weld together plus a reinforcement strip on the back. a bit too thin to just glue IMO.

I used some high quality resin with some fiberglass bondo to smooth the top. Seems to hold quite well. I was able to twist/flex it without it breaking.

those look nice, but theres nothing for the reverse lockout...so just a ball won't work. its very similar to the knob i already have so i'll most likely re-spray the knob i have now. for now i'm swapping back to OEM, it flows a bit better.
the reverse lockout goes up into the shift knob (the opening is bigger than just the thread for the shifter). love mine!

Really hope you can maybe work with a manufacturer and mass produce the door-strap. Been wanting something like that since day 1 of owning this car

Did you have to extend the wires at all? I'm going to move my start button somewhere else and was curious.

yes you have to extend the wires. i'm warning you all, the wires are EXTREMELY THIN.

this means that you should think about where you cut it to extend it, if you strip too much then you'll be screwed, i came very close to this.

also, to mount the button itself you NEED the little area its mounted into, you just need to cut it out and glue it to where you want it and then mold it, if you look through old photos, you'll see what i mean by this.

as far as the doors, its just something i did for myself, its still not perfect but it works fine. you have to pull the strap towards the front of the car, no towards the inside of the car, its hard to explain but once you use it you'll see what i mean.

i've actually contacted renspeed, who makes the OEM kit for VW's but they said they would not like to do this...so basically mine are and will be one off.

i am debating making something but i just don't have the time. the information in this thread is enough for someone to do this at home, i think i documented it pretty well, those go-kart cables are how mine is connected, there probably is a better way but it would take a bit more engineering, and there isn't that much room to work with here.

my pm box is always open to questions, i'd be happy to help.

i actually have a rattle in my driver door...if i take it apart to add more dynamat, i'll snap some photos for sure.

Meh on the red boot, just might be too big of an ammount, considered red anodized parts such as the hvac crontrols, reverse lockout?

Sounds like you need some sort of pivot arm. So when you pull the strap out, it rotates and pulls the release cable forward. Add in a spring tensioner to get the reset right.

we will see how the boot looks, i'm optimistic. it should go nicely with the Red STi button. if not i'll go back to my leather, it okay with it either way.

issue is the tiny amount of space that i have. but yea, something like that would be ideal, but its going to be hard to make. i've made countless trips to home depot/lowes/hobbystores/etc.

and the renspeed ones don't work here.

Thanks for the info. I want to move mine to the OEM key location. If I move the seat heater switches it'll be to install the controller for my processor.
