I'm a 86 for life guy mainly because I wanted a sub 2800 lb, turbocharged, RWD, Low CoG car with a sport pkg(wheels+tire, suspension and brakes). I have achieved everything and the only other car that can satisfy me as a 2nd car is a Alfa 4c, turbo ND Miata or a Cayman. The Supra looks like it might be like the 370Z with the same weight or more. No thanks.

keeping my 86 either way but I would definitely consider the Supra if it has a manual...if it is automatic only maybe not..

I am going to buy one IF:
I win the lotto. Get a huge raise. Find gold on my property. The six speed TT cost 42K in 1993. If other car prices are any kind of comparison, the new supra will Cost north of $80,000. A 1990 zr1 vette was $58,995, A New ZR1is $120,000 I can go on....

I was hoping to keep the FR-S for a long time and wouldn't heavily mod a new car just to move on to something else in a few years. Otherwise, I have leased the majority of my vehicles so am accustomed to switching every 3 or so years. The Supra is really interesting except I'd have to part with the FR-S to get one and that's not happening for at least another 6 years or so. In the meantime I do find the Supra very interesting and might be a late adopter rather than an early one as was the case with the FR-S.

While it will probably have a minimal impact on overall sales, the lack of a manual transmission is a deal breaker to me. Otherwise I would be interested.

If it's based on a BMW platform then it won't be that light. The M2 from BMW weighs 3450 lbs even though it's kind of small. The Supra needs the 86 platform with a slight increase in size instead. |

..that is what I figured too but considering they have removed the backseats from the formula and are using a wheelbase shorter than the 86's, think the low curb weight is a real possibility. The Supra sounds like it is shaping up to be basically the 86 in its class, lower power but low curb weight.. |

Well the Z4 also had a shorter wheelbase than the 86 but weighed 3400 lbs as hardtop convertible and 3250 lbs prior when it was a soft top in the prior late 2000 generation. The Z3 was actually under 3000 lbs but that was a long time ago. Hopefully they can meet the Z3 curb weight or at least a Cayman's weight of 3000 lbs. |

I had one each of the last two generations of the Supra. This new one just is not doing it for me. I will keep my Spyder and if I have to replace it then I would most likely get a used 2017 BRZ.

If it ends up being around that range I could see myself possibly wanting it especially if the price is right but I would still keep my 86. |

I don't think it's going to have the performance or lineage for the name sake. Like, it probably needs to be faster than a camaro but it won't be.
