Nissan's NSX was called the MID4 with ATTESA 4WD and VG30DETT. It went thru 2 generations before it never came out.

GTRs are fantastic numbers cars (track times, trap speeds, horsepower, etc) that utterly demolished the competition in their heyday 5-10 years ago. But man do they ever leave me cold in the design department.

My biggest gripe is that the Porsche 911 Turbo would take my $ every day of the week if I was in the market.

Mine suits me well different strokes for different folks.

I think the R35 did a great job of embodying the ethos of the earlier models into the 21st Century. Things they got right:
  • Revolutionary AWD
  • Maintain 4 seats/trunk (911 Turbo is the only competitor)
  • Turbo'd 6. Some are upset it's not a straight 6, but from a weight distribution standpoint the V6 makes more sense to allow for "front-mid ship"... look at the use of the transaxle too. They were focused on weight distribution.
  • Mind-bending performance and tech for the time.

It would be fun to have the car in a manual transmission, but it wouldn't perform the way it does and I imagine there would be reliability issues at the power levels these cars easily make... Also, in this day and age the "big cars" just don't come in manual transmissions especially when they're AWD. Recent generation of the 911 turbo, gallardo/r8, ferrari, nsx, on and on have abandoned manual. From a engineering/performance/reliability standpoint they don't make sense for the application.

For those who say it's soulless, ride in a FBO car driven in anger. You'll get the picture

Have driven the 32, 33, 34, and 35.

The R35 is pretty crazy, when you consider the size and weight of it. On paper, you don't think it should handle and corner the way it does, but it does. Do I wish it was lighter/smaller and a bit more engaging? Sure. But I don't think it's a bad car.

With the 32-34... these cars are so unbelievably overhyped here in the states, it's kind of ridiculous. They're cool cars, much like how many JDM cars from the 90s are. Cars were just different back then. Back in those days (R32 specifically), the technology was ahead of its time. At the end of the day though, they're just 20 year old Nissans. And they drive like 20 year old Nissans.

They're not bad by any means, but I don't think they're as crazy as many people on the internet (especially younger kids/adults) would want you to believe. And I sure as hell don't believe that they're worth the 100k+ asking price they're going to have when they become legal in the US.

Hideous. Never been a fan of any of them past the 70s. Don't care for AWD either.
It literally has nothing going for it for me.

R32 prices aren't terrible. R34s will easily be in the 100k+ territory when 2024 hits.

Now that Ghosn is arrested maybe the next GTR won't become an SUV.
