Actually there is one case here, in the club
And its 2013 model

Thanks! I was beginning to wonder why the hell there was no reference to an issue anyplace! The one article said there were 92 reported and I could not find any of them which just didn't make sense in the modern info age.
There were issues back in 2009 to 2011 with sprigs and there was piles of info on that.

There is a recall number for the US but it's not on the Subaru website yet. So no solid info for which cars will be included.

How about the revised rocker arms that they came out with for the MY2013 cars? I seem to remember them only replacing if the engine made the ticking/typewriter noise, not an actual recall. Does anyone have a link to this TSB?

If my car is affected by the spring issue and they're going to have the engine apart, should I ask the dealer to put in the revised rocker arms while they're at it?

Subaru TSB 02-151-14R. It's meant to reduce a tapping or sewing machine type noise when warm from the left cylinder head. It involves replacing the left side intake and exhaust camshafts, rockers, pivots and valves. Also slightly different valve clearance specifications. It seems to be just to repair a noise complaint, not actually fix a mechanical defect or problem.

Me too. VIN ...00367. Wonder what the difference is, better quality control because they were dotting on the early ones?

More likely just chance. Remember the Twins are less than 20% of the vehicles affected so it had nothing to do with their actual release dates.

I have a 2013 FRS that is part of the valve spring recall. The car has already been in a shop since October. It stalled and was found to have broken rocker arms and bent valves. The shop could not say exactly how it happened. It has around 50k miles. I will attempt to have Toyota reimburse me for the repairs. I am wondering if anyone has heard of catastrophic engine failure because of this issue. We definitely had a failure of some kind in the heads. I was told it is very difficult to know exactly what caused the failure because so many things broke as a result. Hard to determine what failed first.
List of broken components:
bent valves
cracked valve guides
cracked springs
possible cracked heads (still being evaluated)
broken tooth on crank gear
crank gear cracked through
pistons dented or gouged

If it is not at a subaru/toyota dealer, I would suggest getting lots of pictures, a current work order and going to your local dealer to discuss the failure. They may ask for the car and or engine to be brought in so a regional rep can review whats going on and make the call on possible replacement/repair coverage.

Well looks like I could be one of the unlucky few. 30425. Contacted the dealer today so we’ll see what happens. At least it packed away for that winter now

I was one of the earlier production, vin 1121. I thought my car was not in the recall list, but I just got the recall notice yesterday in the mail. I will contact the dealer Monday and see what they say.

Hey all, been a while since I've been actively posting. Just got my recall notice over the weekend. I'm gonna hold off and wait until the Spring before I do anything as the BRZ's tucked away for the winter, and I want to see how others are treated that have extensive mods (Supercharger).

For reference, VIN is 2143

I just talked to the dealer. They said they don't have the tools to perform the fix right now.
