Just got home from the dealer.

So, they replaced the gauge cluster hood as planned, nice clean leather and perfect seams. Also the thread stitching is nice and new. Looks good.

They tested the battery and it was bad, so they gave me this through warranty:

Smaller battery? It takes up less space on that tray/holder thing on the right.. unless it's taller to compensate? Completely different kind from my old one (check the old post from the other day).

Also, remember how I complained about my steering wheel like a month or two ago? The tech thought that it was way more worn/slippery than it should be, and at first thought maybe I bought the car used and it was just old. Once I told him it was new he said that's really odd, and ordered me a new steering wheel.

He also told me when I come back for the new steering wheel that his manager should be around and can approve the work at a body shop for the rust spot on the roof.

All free.

I only spent 30 dollars on a tire rotation.

Hard to tell if there's a size difference from looking at those photos, but in the photo you posted yesterday it looks like the battery is slid over to the right a bit in it's tray. And with the new one it looks like it's slid all the way to the left.

Despite what Some here say, there are good ones. I've had real good luck with my local Dodge, Honda, and Toyota dealers here.

Damn. Fixing the rust and new steering wheel too? That's awesome! Sounds like you have a great dealership there.

I nicked the bottom of my wheel with something when swapping in black interior pieces... you can't see it unless the wheel is turned but I am itching for an excuse to buy one of those 86worx perforated leather ones...

Lame. I'm really probably about to buy that battery jumper that @Tcoat mentioned. Someone I follow on Instagram just bought the same one and it started his old 240 up without any problems. Sounds like a valuable purchase to make.

Yeah these guys are awesome. Plus the guy who took care of me immediately spotted the ( @Drambeenie ) risers and asked about them when I was finishing up, and was curious how much they are, about the paint match and stuff. He was super into it, not forbidding at all.

I also saw the salesman who sold me the BRZ last year, he kinda remembered me, and he was asking about what I've done with the car so far as well with genuine interest.

This dealer seems super cool.

Sorry I got over-excited . Either way, new battery for free. That's a-okay for me.

I finally found a decent machinist here. I love the parts guys at my dealership. Always straight with me. They take interest in what I'm doing and give me a heads-up on potential pitfalls. A+

Haha, funnily enough I also nicked my steering wheel with my house keys once.. So this will kill two birds with one stone.

And I was also planning to buy one of those 86worx ones precisely because of the perforated leather and shape difference. But a couple people suggested asking the dealer first. Good thing I did. At the very least I might be able to sell it later to recoup the 86worx one cost or keep as a backup.
