blower specs
http://www.vortechsuperchargers.com/page.php?id=30148

I was looking into customizing the IC routing in a similar configuration as the JDL turbo kit. This isnt that hard to accomplish especially if you rotate the volute on the blower. There are 2 setting bolts (2-4 bolts actually I cant remember exactly) that allow you to rotate the position of the discharge outlet of the blower.

EDIT: The volute angle is held in place by 6 allen bolts. After removing the bolts hold the blower and tap it with a rubber mallet to loosen its rotation.

I was about ready to pull the trigger but was advised against it. I know sucks to hear but its based on my personal circumstances. It doesnt mean that someone else cant try my plan out. Reason why Im backing out is cause with the larger blower Im basically married to e85 forever since theres no way to limit boost efficiently. Even with a wastegated setup the engine is still doing the work for 18 psi even if I limit it to 12 so it starts to become an issue of engine stress. Also although it should be possible to break the 400-450 whp mark with this setup the stress put on the engine would be the same as a 550+whp turbo setup.

Vortech is honoring their exchange program that they have in place for other platforms for our kits. So if you send in your blower they will rate its condition. They will then credit you anywhere from $500 - $1000 on a new blower. With the V3-SI costing around $2400 the max someone would have the come out of pocket is $1900 to upgrade, min cost $1400.

You can skip the custom IC piping and bolt the larger blower right up to our bracketry but once you start really pushing the blower youll start to bottle neck at the intercooler.

If I do end up not pursuing this route Im still going to look into getting a custom impeller made for the stock blower to at least bump up this blowers max output a little in the mean time. Probably somewhere between 2-4 additional psi.

EDIT: bunch of typos lol....
Hi

Do you have the compressor performance map for the S3-Si?

I had a question. I'm replacing my pulley system today with Raceseng. I was wondering about the idler pulley we replace with the kit. Is it a different size than stock?

Hey Dudes - I have the Vortech Kit stock - looking to go smaller pulley. Not my DD, but summer DD / Track car.

I'm looking at the 3.25" pulley. Anything else i'll need to do / be on the watch for other than my custom Tune?

I figure i'd be looking at around 35-50 ex hp?

Thanks!

Replaced all of Lola's coils and plugs with the help of my mates this weekend. My car threw a coil pack code tracking the car twice in the hot August month. While I was in there I replaced the plugs as well. Vortech recommend plug changes at 30k so why the heck not.

Wanted to make this post as #Science for Vortech owners

Lola's History Pre-Coil/Plug Service
Delivered June 2012
Vortech Supercharged 9psi 2.5bar kit
Perrin Vortech Tune
32k miles. 22k miles boosted. 1k+ miles on the track/road courses.
OEM Spark Plugs
Rev 0 Coil Packs
Amsoil Signature 0W-20 since 1700 miles
Radium Catch Can at 5500 miles
Second Radium Catch Can at 15000 miles
Homebrew oil cooler at 16000 miles

Engine oil and Vortech oil changed every 3-4k miles or after two track events whatever comes first. I change these items together

Spark plugs came out well and were consistent. No signs of lean conditions. I thought the plugs would come out darker due to the safe tune I have, but this wasn't the case. A shop commented that there is some oil burn but it doesn't look major. Overall I'm glad mine came out this way. I've seen plugs come out much worse on another mate's Vortech Car. My mates were impressed they were iridium plugs with three prongs. I read the OEM spark plugs are NGK 9 equivalent

Coils were heat wrapped to see if it will help them last longer. I've seen first hand coils starting to go on #NA cars, so I'm not surprised to see this on Lola. From working with the dealer, we are now on Rev 2 on the coils. Looks identical to me. Must be reworked internals to handle heat or deliver spark more reliably.

Here are some photos.

Installed DW 700cc injectors and a DW65c pump the other day. Preparing to go flex-fuel with the moto-east kit. Flex fuel kit not yet installed due to different fuel fittings from our cars to the FRS.
Anybody have some hard starting issues with the DW 700cc and DW65c combo? Ran into it yesterday, car kept cranking but would not start. Got it going after some tries and haven't come back since. Car idles fine and runs more smoothly now, no issues except the one hard start.

Did you just loosen subframe bolt and jack up motor to do plugs?
Did you have to disconnect any piping etc?

Thanks for post, plugs look good could probably go longer.
If you are tracking in TX you want to switch to 10w30 or 10w40.
You maybe burning oil because of oil temp/pressure and thinness of the of 0w20.
I just switched to 10w40 now as this was the only way I could get safe oil pressures on track for an entire session.

Also, just quick note for you track guys. My vent plug started pissing oil on the blower after 30 minutes on track. The suggestion was that even oil at 1/2 the dipstick is too high for some track sessions and to leave it closer to bottom of stick.

I believe you will have to tune the injector scaling when you install bigger injectors. Your car is probably dumping too much fuel at start up.

If I want to run about 10.5 to 11 psi, which pulley size should I go with?

Yes, we already did the injector rescaling. I just had one hard start. DW users here also say that they occasionally have hard starting issues with the pump and fuel injectors.
