I have HKS and GREEdy stuff from the 80's and it holds up just great. I mean fantastic.

This thread proves quality is not what it was, as I have stated before. I no longer buy these brands, and this is just why.

I'm curious about it as well.

I purchased the exhaust from @Circuit Motorsports, waiting to hear back on the outcome of his contact with the HKS USA Rep.

I for one have never been impressed with the "quality" of JDM product manufacturers, which is funny because the JDM cars we all lust over and the japanese cars we all drive, are stuffed full of quality and value.

You crawl around under enough cars and see enough exhausts and you come to EXPECT this from HKS, Greddy, Invidia, RSR...doesn't much matter, I have had my RS-R Exmag on 4 different S13's from Stock SOHC KA24E, to High comp KA24DE, my Daily driven SR20det, and now on my VET powered Race car, I have had it repaired numerous times, always at a new failure point.

you are (largely) buying an image with exhausts systems...quality doesn't come standard

I just checked my HKS exhaust. No cracks yet. I'll check again in a few weeks.

If you lump all the JDM companies into one category then of course you're not going think of any of them in a positive way. Both US and Japan have high and low quality stuff. In both cases the high quality stuff comes at a high price obviously. You have to factor in the exchange rate, shipping, etc as well for the Japanese stuff.

Even good brands like Perrin have issues as well.

You wish, you're gonna have to aim pretty high to get over my head kiddo.

You favor paying for shipping versus paying for quality, that's cool or whatever but it has no affect on the validity of my experience or my post.

BTW i'm not arbitrarily "lumping" I have seen similar failures in all the brands I mentioned, and NOWHERE did I say that American products were fault free...Quit trying to read between the lines and READ THE WORDS... or continue to fly In the dirt, I don't really care.

In the 80's and early 90's HKS was cream of the crop. I guess things have changed much since then. What a shame.
