That may true, but these tires don't need additional heat to operate. If it's 50+ degrees F outside, they're going to be fine. I get the decreased contact patch to generate heat theory, but this is autocross, not road racing. Our tires have tread, and are designed to operate in the cool -warm temperature range.

I bought the 235-45-17's But, the same #'s should apply. In CS, the 245/40's are going to be up against the limiter on national courses, so I went with the tall tires...and my car is turtle slow in a straight line now.

Thanks, wasn't sure how the 245's RE71's were working out on 7" rims, I've been a little not paying attention this year.

I run 245/40/17 RE71's and would advise against running 31 psi on the front. IMO you need at least 34-35 hot and you are still going to roll over to the triangles. In the rear I run 31 and its perfect.

I'm running 225/45/17 right now in CS and am nowhere close to the triangles at 31. I had 235/45 RS-3s last year and ran the same pressures. I have needed 3rd gear more this year with the 225s though.

Are you on concrete?

Only when I go to Lincoln (or maybe Toledo this year)... all of my local sites are pretty big but all sealed asphalt. The east coast does not do concrete for their parking lots and the airports are too busy.

Thanks, just understanding what you're running on an adjusting tire pressures for. I'm still on older Rivals but we have Wilmington close and oh so grip. Soon as I wear these out going bridgestones.

My local local lots are sealed asphalt as well.

31 PSI on concrete 235 45 17, no where near the triangles up front. I may try even lower pressures:

My experience is the same.

Maybe a 235/45 or a wider STX wheel doesn't need as much pressure, but I need 37 PSI up front on my 245/40 7" wheel setup to not rollover past the triangles.

I guess I should have specified that I'm running 225/45/17 on the OEM wheels. It seems like the 245/40 and 225/45 have a non-negligible difference in PSI settings.

Since the weather is getting hotter, where is everyone at on the necessity of a water sprayer on the current crop of tires? I used it on my old Z2s with great effect, but I'm not sure if I need it on the V2 RS3s. I ran rivals on my S2000, and those tires seemed to like heat. Any thoughts on the RE71s or Rival S?

The RE71s do pretty well in the heat, but definitely like being cool in my experince. Ran them with a co-driver at an event and we were double spraying and it made a world of difference. Though don't seem to need as much spraying as the previous ZIIs did. As it warms up more (I'm in NE) we'll see how it goes.
