Huh. Most likely just due to the headlights, but to me it kind of brings to mind the BMW F10 from that particular angle.

it reminds me of the BMW from the first time i look at it, but it lacks the sleek and cut of a BMW. That is why many people are disappointed

They have a couple of similarities. The hood line, similar rocker panels, similar angles on the hood, big fog light sections in the bumper, etc.

Big disappointment. Why is Subaru moving away from what made them successful all these years? Smaller displacement, ugly, and offers A/T? Clearly they are no longer trying to market their cars to enthusiast anymore. Oh well, now they can sell more wrx to soccer moms going through a midlife crisis who couldn't drive a manual. Perhaps with all their success they can finally afford to spend their money developing a super car like the other big japanese companies have.

Same displacement japan has been getting for years, look at the figures, its a great setup out of the box. A/T has been offered in years past? Also it will grow on you.

Subaru sales have only been rising and they continue reach out to enthusiasts, are we talking about the same brand?

The new generation model should be bout 100lbs lighter than the last one. If you use the equivalent premium model of Imprezas as reference. The 2011 has a curb weight of 3,053 lbs and the 2012 at 2,954. I recall while researching our 2012 Impreza before we picked it up the savings was attributed to a lighter engine, chassis, and interior materials choices. I don't see why this wouldn't translate over to the WRX model as well.
