Prevent or Repair Exhaust Tip Rust

Hey guys, I was just wondering if there's any easy way to repair or protect a small amount of rust on an exhaust tip. I just had the exhaust installed on Friday, and yesterday after a bit of rain, I noticed it's begun the rust. I'm thinking it was messed up while it was being packaged since the wrapping was left on the tips during the install. Waiting to hear back from the manufacturer, but in the mean time I'd like to see if anyone here has any suggestions.

Here's a picture. I know it's small, but when you spend almost $900 on a cat-back, you shouldn't have to worry about anything like this.

nothing will last long on the exhaust as they get really hot, nothing will stay on.

I slightly agree with chenshuo, also they tips come in contact with moisture nearly every time the car sits and the exhaust system cools and condensates.

Polish the rust off the tip then spray it with high temp clear engine enamel (http://www.autozone.com/autozone/acc...ier=465393_0_0_).

X-Treem Metal Polish is my go-to for stainless. It won't protect it from rust though.

I suggest you contact the manufacturer and complain about it.

It's the resonated V1 from FT-86 SpeedFactory. It's an excellent exhaust other than this little mishap. Great sound, no drone on the highway. I'm used to having a quiet cabin (previous car was a Buick Century) and this exhaust is a perfect combination of sound when you need and and quiet when you're cruising.

This is most likely what I'm going to try. They said to try to polish it off with steel wool. We'll see how it goes

I'll update as soon as I clean off the rust. Should be by this weekend
