The only positive is that the mtec takes care of the floppy pedal feel when disengaged.

I'm kinda torn...might take it out...

Well, I gave it some time and I'm keeping it. No spring is more firm during engagement, but mtec is smooth and predictable throughout. This combo is leaps and bounds better than stock, can't recommend highly enough.

Where did you buy the spring at? How much was it? Still not happy even with pedal adjustment and slave swap. Wife says the shifting is much smoother, but it still doesn't feel like the manuals I'm used to.

Straight from mtec, Mtecind.com. I grabbed both the shifter and clutch spring for about $68 shipped. They're $30 a piece.

It's never going to be quite there. Engagement point is still really high. A few of us locally briefly discussed experimenting with slotting the reservoir port and adding a pedal return spring to give it more of a classic feel. That's a lot of work, though.

Haha, you old school guys are an inspiration. I keep trying to make it feel like my old 944, but I'm gonna try to be content where I'm at.

I felt a stock clutch pedal for the first time after doing all 3 pedal modifications. I had totally forgot what it felt like...maybe because it has no feel!!

Maybe I'm an ass but I really feel bad for the guys that complain about the clutch but resist doing this. I want to shake them and say "Just do it already!"

I understand if you've never worked on a car before, but it's seriously easier than changing oil. Cleaner, faster, cheaper, and no jacking up the car!

Hell, I'll drive to anyone in MD and do it for em for a beer, haha.

I've done it for a bunch of the guys up here. It's a little awkward working around a sprintex/innovate blower but still not rocket science.

What's the list of the three? Is it:

1. This thread
2. Remove clutch return spring
3. Clutch engagement point

Just wanted to make sure I knew what three so I can adjust the other two (already did 2)

It is not a return spring. It is an assist/helper spring. Beyond the halfway point(ish) of travel, it actually pushes the pedal to the floor.

I hope I don't sound like I'm harping. It's important to understand the distinction.

The clutch engagement point will change as a result of this mod. I strongly recommend dialing it in and/or verifying clutch function after the swap. Make sure the clutch both fully disengages, and is able to self-adjust when released.

What's the difference between the two? Does one just return it and the other assists?

Edit: It's late. It just re-read your comment and it answered my question.
Edit 2: Do you need to dial-in/verify the clutch after the slave swap or the assist spring?

One is a tomato that looks like a potato. The other is a potato.
