Stock FR-S Tune Just Done

As the title says, I brought my FR-S down to HG Motorsports in Sorrento Valley, CA this past Saturday to get a baseline dyno run and have the car tuned on all stock parts. The tuner is William or Bill Knowes, who happened to be lead tuner at Crawford for almost 8 years and personally tuned many of their famous cars such as those from Gymkhana 1 & 2.

Anyways, the dyno used was a very very old Dyno Dynamics, which according to Bill, is the heartbreaker of all heartbreakers.

I have all the dyno printouts, and will be posting them sometime tomorrow for all to see. For now, what I can tell you is that everything about the car is far better. Smoother in all gears, steady and stable idle, and last but not least, power. The average of 3 base pulls was 138.7whp at peak or so before the tune, and around 152.8whp peak after. At redline, I picked up 30whp. Instead of just dropping off at 5-5.5k like it did before, the car just keeps pulling and pulling.

I know, I know, this thread is useless without pics. Pics or it didn't happen. I will post all the dyno sheets tomorrow. Keep in mind that on a Dynojet, I'm guessing I would be around 175-180. Dynapacks read even higher.

PICS TUESDAY the 5th!

^These are my car, before and after stock tune. Pink is before, green is after. All averages of 3 pulls.

^ These are my car after tune (green) versus a stock FR-S that belongs to someone else on these forums. This is significant because the FR-S represented with the grey curve was one of the first to hit U.S. shores and was clearly tuned a bit differently from the factory. The grey line is NO TUNE.

Aside - Yes I know it may say Flywheel HP, ignore it. It's WHP, and it's reading low because it's an older model Dyno Dynamics, as stated above. Deal with it.

Also, I apologize profusely for these being sideways, but I don't feel like putting in more effort so go ahead and snap your necks to read the graphs.

All stock parts with a gain of 30whp? Really? Wow! What on earth was done to get results like that?

I'm not sure exactly, but of course when he was doing the pulls the graphs were made live and also had an AFR curve in there. I noticed that around the top where there was a 30whp gain, the AFR got so rich that is flatlined because the 02 sensor couldn't read any richer (before tune). I know he dialed it way back. I'll have to ask for a before an after for AFR too because the before looked like someone having a heart attack and after the curve looked stable and not too rich or lean.

Look at the baseline graph, it drops off way too early and quickly. The remap graph looks spot on but the massive gain is due to the original run being so poor.

Any idea what had been causing it to run so poor? Rubbish fuel maybe?

That's very impressive all stock gains. Perhaps you had a faulty sensor and its reading got tuned out? Otherwise why would this car be drowning itself in fuel up near redline? The O2 sensor should have been shouting shut the f***ing fuel off to the ECU lol

Either way that's stellar performance my man.

Looks good, a tune really unlock the potential, Theres probably some discrepancy in the first stock run, its really low. After a tune i expect our cars to be in the 160-175whp range depending on the fuel and aftermarket parts. 200whp for e85.
