Try driving a 1.8t jetta for mazda speed3. Huge torque but at 5000 rpm they are all out of idea's.

You peak tq out at say 3000 rpm and its all downhill from there and it is just a miserable feeling reving it out.
I own an MK6 GTI and it has the same 200hp as the FRS but it puts you on your sit all day long, it feels amazing because of the torque delivery and I can pass mini vans all day long in almost any gear. the torque on the FRS is useless outside the track. if I could ask for a perfect car it would be the FRS with the GTI engine. yup 6k redline.

Here's my guess for it. (Made from the hp chart posted earlier in this thread.) @Visconti how close am I?

There is a noticeable loss of torque out of the 2.0TSI motor at around 5500rpm. While the stock motor is acceptable and produces about 50lb-ft more torque than the FRS/BRZ, the GTI really needs the bigger K04 turbo from the S3 or the new Golf R to be truly impressive. None of this engine stuff changes the fact that the GTI is 600 pounds heavier than the FRS, and handles like a minivan.

That being said, I want the DSG transmission from my old MKV GTI in the FRS. THAT would make my nether bits swell with pride and other feelings of joy

Back on topic: I can't wait to hear this wondrous whine from the front of my FRS.

Huh, you went in the opposite direction of me. I'd like the F20C in my FRS. 240hp and 9000rpms... uh yes please.

Plus a million. Agree 100 percent. Its got nice torque for passing minivans in 6th gear but it drops off substantially after 5000 Rpm. The problem gets worse when you add more power without replacing the turbo. Huge torque lump and then nothing. Feels like you are going backwards at times.

I have lots of experience with the mk6 gti with stage 1....drove it on many occasions and the punch down low is impressive but it didn't like to be reved. Really like the golf r though. Different turbo really makes the top end fun.

Yes 14 psi at 2000rpm and only 8 at redline. Have fun with that. Its on the opposite end of the spectrum from the FRS. Its more akin to a lazy v8, handles like one too.
