I think the only thing that is confirmed with this is the roofline, windows, doors, mirrors, and fenders*
*The front fenders appear to have some panels covering some details. the bumpers, hood, headlights and taillights appear to be there just so the vehicle can allowed on the road for testing.

When I first saw this view, it seemed like it dwarfed the car next to it, although it's probably just camera perspective. This angled view makes it seem like the prototype is about the same length, maybe a bit longer. As best as I could google, that car next to it is the Opel Zafira B It's listed as having a length of 176 inches, with MKIV Supra being 178 for reference As for width, hard to tell. But definitely much wider than the car in front: That might be a Opel Corsa C which is only 65" wide. MKIV Supra was 71". My guess is it'll be the same size as MKIV Supra. |

Before this topic drops further down the penis euphemism hole i would like to say that i'm glad they got rid of those giant fenders from the concept.
it's too "supercar" for my taste. The Supra should be like the GT-R, a (somewhat) affordable beast that is still practical.

Here's what I don't understand. Toyota is steadfastly against offering a higher performance GT 86 which tops out around $30k USD but this Supra is rumored to go for corvette money at roughly $65k. That's a $35k spread between the 2 cars.
From a pure business decision standpoint, where are current 86 owners supposed to go if they want more performance and don't want to deal with aftermarket headaches for a DD? IMO they need to offer a base model 4 cyl turbo Supra with roughly 330-350 hp at around $40k to keep current 86 owners in the fold and give them something to move up to. Unless of course they plan to slot that revived Celica GT4 Tada hinted at a while back in between the 86 and the Supra then the pricing spread makes more sense.

Perhaps Subaru's WRX/Sti line up is what's hindering a highpowered 86.

With the upcoming S-FR it leaves room for the next gen 86 to slightly move up in the market. More on level with the $30k Z? |

But I'm not on board with the Supra being $50k. Then it won't be competitive with its peers which would be a shame, it shouldn't be neutered to be accessible to 2005 financial numbers. If a Corvette Grand Sport starts at $80k, a Mustang (Cobra) starts at $55k, an NSX at $150k, an M3 at $65k, a PDK Cayman S at $70k, a BMW Z4 35i at $65k... The simple matter of the fact is the wealth disparity & lack of income increase keeps the majority of us stuck in a decade ago because we're still catching up with the inflation of... EVERYTHING! As much as I'd want to be able to buy these toys without the stresses and anxiety of biting off more than I can chew when they hit showrooms, I'm not - I ok with sitting on the sidelines, enjoying yesteryear's used toys and wait till the day I can buy a 'cool' icon with the latest and greatest performance technologies... Rather wait than chuckle at a glorified Solara coupe with yesterday's tech and no innovation/claim to fame. The Supra became an icon because it did something above and beyond (tuning..right? overbuilt engine?). That hardly comes cheap. And if you want simple, well there's always the Viper And on that Celica GT-4 point, I wouldn't expect anything less than Focus RS, STI or late-Evo pricing either... $40-50k... Which would need to push the Supra further up to differentiate it, and I hope the engineering justifies that, too! Then again, the Lexus RC-F starts at $63k... so who knows. A 1995 Lexus SC400 had a base msrp of $47,500 and the Supra Turbo was $47,500 as well. Suffice to say, I wouldn't expect a new Supra to cost now what it did in 1995. |

Who knows what they have in store. The cost would be saved by being co-developed with BMW. Speaking of the Z4, the current model has crappy sales. I think BMW realize they have to offer more bang for the buck. IMO if there is a base model I hope it uses BMW's S55 from the M3/M4. A base model should have at least 400hp. Seeing how the $30k Z comes with 332hp. Than a top of the line model has been rumored to be hybrid. As you said the RC-F starts at around $63k, so I don't think its going to more than that. Another point is back in the 90s the MKIV was bargain for its performance. As pointed out in many reviews it was just as good if not better than some cars that costed more than it. I don't think it has to be stupidly expensive to be good. Guess we'll have to just wait and see. |

55k seems like a lot considering you'll be getting the base model with the low output engine.
I can only imagine how much the version with the high output engine will cost. |

unfortunately not really. Besides the Miata and the Twins, everything sporty starts at $55k and skyrockets from there. I highly doubt you will find one anywhere near the base price anyways.
