What they said!
For your first day ever, good pads and fluid are sufficient, as you will not be driving that fast while you are figuring out the track. I'm new to the track and 86Cup this year (NorCal group mostly), and highly recommend joining the 86 group. At first I was hesitant to join the because I had almost zero track experience and I wasn't ready to compete. Since meeting the 86Cup group, I have found them to extremely helpful in coming up to speed on the track (not just about "winning"...although some are very fast, and have years of track experience). Because everyone is driving a similar car, you have a good benchmark on how fast the car "can" go. You also have a lot of helpful folks willing to give you pointers on how to drive and setup your 86. Most will be happy to give you ride, so bring a helmet and come on out and to see how the hotshoes do it. There will be over twenty 86's at Buttonwillow on July 28th. Good track info here: http://www.mytrackschedule.com/HPDE_Novice_Guide.html

Ran boosted AT in Unlimited and Modified class over the last couple years in 86Cup.
Advice: * Oil cooler: GReddy (worth the premium, get it professionally installed) * Brake Pads: Winmax W5 * Brake Fluid: Project Mu G-Four (or equivalent) * Transmission Cooler: Not necessary unless you're inefficient at driving (ie. auto shifting or using paddles non-stop) I can only name 1 time I had AT give a CEL for temperature and it was canyon driving in auto-mode during the summer * Coaching |
