Does CMP count as South East? I'm going there for the first time this weekend.

If anyone is interested, the SCCA is running its first ever 'Targa' event the middle of August. Their will be a multitude of events such as autocross, time trials, track night, and road rally over the course of a 4 day weekend. The event will start in Charlotte, down to Atlanta Motorsports Park (north ATL), and then finish up in Bowling Green, KY. My brother and I will be running it with the BRZ. Come join us.

Just going to quickly revive this. Any events in South Florida? Willing to drive up as far as central Florida if the track or autocross is more curvy than Homestead

since Miami doesn't seem to have any autoX events I was thinking of starting some up.
Is there anyone that can help with that?
what would I need? Insurance, cones, parking lot, safety techs, waivers ?
should I start a new thread for this? or maybe someone started one already?

There are two groups that run events in Broward, at the BB&T arena (Where the Florida Panthers play). One group is ER (Equipe Rapide) and the other is the Gold Coast region PCA (Porsche Club of America).

At one point I was very heavily involved with ER, doing course design, set-up, chief of workers, event chair etc., but life got in the way. If you are truely interested in getting events going in the Miami area, please check out ER's website. They hold monthly meetings where they discuss things like new sites, existing sites, etc. This would be a great place for you to get started.

Let me know if you need anymore information and I can point you in the right direction.

Also, a short 2.5 hour ride across the Alley and you will be at the BEST autocross site in the State, in my opinion, in Ft. Myers. They hold events every month, with the exception of the really hot summer months. They have an event coming up in May, the 5th and the 6th. On Saturdays they hold an autocross school and a practice test-n-tune on separate courses. On Sunday they hold normal autocrosses. Their courses are typically longer than the typical SCCA courses and have a little higher top speeds as well.

Sorry to add to the stale thread, but there are several organizations that run at Sebring. Way more fun, technical and challenging than Homestead and PBIR. I didn't understand what the fuss was all about until I went, now I'm a believer.

NASA Florida, Chin Track Days, and Performance Driving Group all go there regularly.

As for autocross, that's not really my cup of tea, but they did start a new series at Homestead Karting last month. I have run mini bikes and karts there and it's a very nice, fun track. Never driven there in a full size car, but it should be OK. The plan is for this to run monthly. Next one is coming up September 9.

Ok I may have missed the answer to my question but here we go. I've never tracked a car. I have my one year NASA membership and have not completed any HDPE classes. Do I have to have those under my belt to come to a track day? I would like to try it out but there were no close HDPE classes left open at barbers. I'm down near mobile on the coast so every track seems like a haul for me. Any info is appreciated. Thank you
