Stickers safe to use in engine bay?
I'd like to make or buy some stickers for myself to place in the engine bay. Mainly for placing on various plastic surfaces to either look cool or remind me about something.
Example: I'd like to do an simple sticker that I can list the oil change intervals with pen, place that on the fuse box cover. Or have a sticker to remind me to unbolt a certain section before removing this piece. Or just a cool looking logo sticker. I only want to add stickers that are heat resistant and won't peel or wave anytime soon. Last thing I want to do is place something that melts glue and creates a mess. Any advice? |

I have stickers all over my car, engine bay included. I make stickers. I use high quality automotive vinyl and laminate it with either textured or clear laminate. The fuse box cover has a bumpy finish. Not ideal for stickers. I have one there. My K&N sticker is good to go where it is. As long as the surface is smooth and not too hot you will be fine. Any sticker that I have had fail, is easily cleaned with a rag and rubbing alcohol. Even on the paint after a year. I have had 10 different stickers on my rear bumper.

I put an 86 logo decal on a piece of aluminum and mounted it on the fuse box lid...didn't really expect it to last very long, but ~9 months later it pretty much looks like the day I did it.

Yeah man I remember, I was talking to you a while back at the end of summer meet at Racers Line. You actually gave me the idea to put some stickers around especially the fuse box. One thing I worry about that is you drilled holes in the fuse box top which could allow moisture to get in. I dont remember if its sealed but probably worth putting something around the inside of the screws to help avoid moisture getting into the fuse box. I'll see if I can get the stuff Leonardo mentioned like automotive vinyl, and figure how where to laminate it. I was hoping there was a site or something where you can just give them an image and order a sticker ready to withstand the engine bay. |

I just received my Perrin overflow tank and it included a sticker saying "Warning: This vehicle is heavily modified and doesn't perform like a stock vehicle... blah blah" or something along those lines. I'm thinking of putting it next to the hood latch or maybe on the visor. I'm running out of room in the engine bay for stickers.

Oh, hey man :D That's not a bad idea...the fuse box doesn't seem particularly well sealed against dust/moisture, but it can't hurt. I've got some silicone washers here somewhere that might be good for that. |
