I didn't get a chance to dyno after the install and tune but I will post dyno graphs as soon as I get a chance.. since many people see similar gains with 2.5" exhaust, 92 octane and KW kit, I am guessing it should be around 260-270 to the wheels..

Mine fits like OEM once you dial in the leveling adjusters. I also installed aero-catch pins which keep it completely stable at 130 mph.

How long do those seibon hoods last...? I like the idea of the vented aluminum hood @SirBrass brought up.

The hood will last forever unless you damage it somehow, how it looks may be a different story. If you paint it or getting it clear coated it will look good for a long time, if not and it sees lots of sun, etc. they start to yellow. I will likely pick up a vented one, but I'll get it painted to match the car.

The turbo BRZ we are working with has a vented hood already. It was one of the first mods that was performed when the turbo was installed besides the Robispec radiator/oil cooler.

So even with the Robispec cooling system temps are not kept in check out there in the dessert heat?

Location and the sheer amount of heat produced by a turbo is probably the biggest problem. EGTs out of a turbo are incredibly hot, which means the turbine housing itself is at least as hot, especially with insulative materials, and then it's exposed to that downpipe, so you have additional radiative surface area. It's like putting a space heater inside the engine bay.

Thing is, you have to keep exhaust gas velocity up to keep power. The problem is keeping that heat contained to the exhaust path without overly cooling that air. Thus the heat problem.

Unless you better isolate the hot parts by physical isolation (such as with a rear mounted turbo, or to a lesser extent a behind-engine-mounted turbo), where you can immediately shunt the exhaust gasses away from the engine bay, instead of a good bit of the hottest part of their path still be between the radiator and the engine block, the heat issue is going to continue to be a problem.

That is, unless, you can come up with a more efficient (heat and velocity converted into kinetic energy to drive the turbine wheel) turbine housing... aka, a bigger turbo running lower boost pressures (but moving more air).

However, it sounds like the constraints the customer put on CSG negate the best solutions.

So, the best they can do is the best they can do... unless you can somehow put in a kind of coolant chiller into the system that can act as a heat sink for the excess heat... even then, you still need to keep oil and coolant to at least a certain degree of heat for them to cycle well in an operating engine block...

Catalytic convertors and the exhaust all add to the heat by increasing EGT's.
Reducing EGT's will help performance, increase longevity and reduce overall heat.

0 Issues at NCCAR Tracking. Basically Hot Lapping by the end of the day in time attack format

You can see my spinout/recovery around the 4:30 Mark. Car was strong in every shift and felt amazing at WOT. I make sure to hit that 8k RPM every single time and got into 5th towards the end of the straight away. Brakes were Hawk HPS and they were horrible and over heated so I will be switching to HP Plus this week as a temp solution for this season (maybe even another brand) until I get a BBK.

The S in HPS is Street. HP+ is the Hawk street/track pad. I enjoyed them during my HPDE days. If you don't mind a little extra squeel then step up to the DTCs if you want to stick with Hawk. My personal favorite pad is the newer PFC 08 as it is a track pad that lasts a long time.

Yah originally the format of the Track was Time Attack so I thought the pads would be fine for the 1.5 minutes we were out there, after an evo exploded all over the track everyone left and it was just me and a few other cars so we were basically hotlapping and the brakes did not care for that haha.

O hai.

But yeah, a lot of GT-R drivers are pretty bad. I guess it's cool that they are out there at least though.

I'll be at Sebring June 7. Should be a pretty hot day. We'll see how the FBM cooling equipment holds up.
