Saw the previous post about it. It sprayed liberally around that area with starter fluid and no change in idle. Doesn't mean it's not there, but it wasn't readily apparent.
I guess I could go pay for a smoke test and see what comes out. |

The bypass valve can leak internally through the vacuum line that actuates it, I think. I don't actually have these so ignore me if that makes no sense, but I'm assuming the valve is actuated by a vacuum line?

A couple weeks ago, after installing the Edelbrock, I was having a hell of a time getting all the air out of the system (and keeping it out)
Reference post http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...postcount=1556 I found that air was in fact, being pulled back into the system thru the overflow tube. Reference post http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...postcount=1560 So I came up with a "rig" that eliminated that problem, air can go out but not come back in. No more little bubbles, no more big bubbles...no more air, period. IAT’s were stable, no more 55 degrees above ambient. Reference http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...postcount=1573 I just wasn't happy with the "looks" of the curly Q "overflow tank" so I started looking for other options. I found that my Mityvac brake bleeder tank worked perfectly. While experimenting with different setups, time I decided to measure the amount of fluid that would get expelled thru the overflow tube during normal operations on a now, completely air free and full system. So I hooked up the Mityvac tank with it lower than the surge tank output (and no suction tube inside yet) and by the end of the week, the system had expelled over 3.5 ounces that normally would have ended up on the ground. I also measured the capacity of the Edelbrock supplied Surge tank and that turns out to be only just over 1 ounce....hmmmm? I then added the suction tube to the underside of the overflow tank cap so it could now suck fluid back in as needed rather than pulling air back in and within 2 days all 3.5 ounces of fluid that it had previously expelled, was back in the system. So if 3.5 ounces of fluid left the system and 3.5 ounces was pulled back in, if not for the fluid, what would it have been? Answer, 3.5 ounces of fluid volume replaced by air floating around the system! I finally settled on a location for the Mityvac overflow tank but it required a bit of modification. I spun the Surge tank around which required a fabricating a new mounting bracket, which was a piece of mild steel, 1/8” x 3/4” flat stock from Home Depot. Using a vice, a hammer and a drill...making it was pretty easy. The Mityvac tank is just tie wrapped to my strut tower brace but it’s in a position that is higher than the Surge tank so fluid will always be available to the surge tank and any expelled air float uphill. The clear 3/8"ID / 1/2"OD vinyl hose is also Home Depot stuff, like $8 for a 10 ft coil. The Mityvac tank (MVA6910 4.5 oz Fluid Reservoir Kit) was also <$8 online. One side note, since the Mityvac inlet size is 1/4" and the vinyl hose is 3/8’, I just cut a small piece of hose from the kit, (not the longer suction hose, use the other little piece) to put on the inlet nipple then the 3/8 hose fit right over top of that. Clamp it for good measure and voila, no more air in the system! All you have to do now is keep an eye on the overflow tank and never have to open and depressurize the intercooler system again. (hmmm…kind of like the car's cooling system....once it's burped and air free, just need to keep the overflow level good) Enjoy. |

The thread was looking for comments from completed installs .
Over 500 miles of daily driver very calm a true sleeper made a couple of pony cars look silly. Can easily over drive the setup. One track day you could feel the difference between my stock blue line and her E Force. P0171 and C1201 twice now no pattern may have to check that valve. Overall very pleased kit does what it says is worth the money and extra 100 lbs. |

does anyone have on track times with the car driven relatively hard? i'm not looking for racecar bros who can really cook but more like experienced intermediate guys who are moving -
what's the oil get to and what's your oil cooler setup? how does the intake temp track over time, does it heat soak in a 20/25/30 min session?

We've had the E Force supercharger installed in my wife's car for a couple months now. This kit is everything I hoped it would be. We are not looking to track the car. My wife just wanted some more usable power across the RPM range to improve the fun-factor of the car. After two months of daily driving in the Arizona heat, the car has been 100% reliable. She had no complaints at all about drivability (except that it was too loose with the stock wheels/tires so we had to improve that). She took the car on a short road trip last weekend (a couple hundred miles each way) and it performed flawlessly. My biggest worry was that the car would become more temperamental and daily drivability would suffer. But that has not been the case at all. I'm very satisfied with this setup.

I'm running the CARB tune from Edelbrock. The car was completely stock before the supercharger install and still retains the OEM exhaust.

Spoke with Topher over at Edelbrock and he said that there's a newer configuration file that's been released since mine came out (mine is from May 2016) and to try that out.

I just got the CARB tune by email yesterday. This should be the finalized one that was approved with the EO number. I texted CSG this week and will schedule a time next week hopefully to have them upload it for me and to test it out. Never uploaded a tune before and don't want to screw anything up :-P Gonna have the pros do it and can't say enough good things about the professionalism of CSG.
If you want the CARB tune send edelbrock your ecutek license key (dongle) ID and registration code to calibration@edelbrock.com Hope this helps. |
