That just looks like someone set up the needle wrong - it sounds like it's barely above idle at the beginning of the clip, but the tach is showing 5k already. I doubt that's actually revving any higher than 7.5k or so, and the tach is just wrong.

(Also, that doesn't sound like a car revving to 10k)

The laughing at the end doesn't exactly lend credibility, but yeah, the sound is way off.

Plus you can't set the blinking shift light above stock redline even if you up the rev limit

Look how slow it revs back down. It's a stock car with a dash swap. There is no way the drivetrain is massaged enough to rev that high.

LOL!

You guys need your hearing tuned up; that's not the sound of 11,000 rpm.

Take your car out on a clear stretch and run it up to 87.2 mph, change down to 2nd gear, release the clutch … and that's what 11,000 rpm sounds like on the over-run.

Come tell us how it sounded.

Sounds like a great way to discover the noise a rod makes as it exits the bottom of the engine block...

Sub'd.

I'm learning a lot reading you guys' analysis on our motors. High Output NA has always been my goal for this car, but NA development has been far too overshadowed by the FI Scene...

Once that first set of cams comes out though... Perhaps the floodgates will open...

Do you mean 260 wheel or crank HP? I just got my FRS in October and I too am on a quest to see what I can reliably squeeze out of the FA20 without FI.

Thus far I've done quite a bit of aesthetic modifications but performance-wise I've only added the AFE Takeda Intake, Perrin crank pulley, and Greddy EVO3 exhaust. In the near future I'm looking to add the Nameless Over Pipe/Front Pipe and an ECUTEK Tune.

According to manufacturer's all those parts should do the following:

Intake: 9HP/10TQ
Exhaust: 7HP/6.3TQ
Overpipe/Front Pipe: 7-9HP/6-8TQ
Pulley: No HP, just faster revs
Tune: Supposedly with all the aforementioned mods I could look to gain 20-25HP

So, that all being said, with the best intake, best exhaust, the Nameless combo pipe, and the best tune I supposedly could have 50 more HP on top of the stock rating, putting me at 250 crank HP. That's assuming the max gain from all products, I'd likely be closer to 235-240 HP and a few ponies shy of 200 whp. I've read that it's actually kind of hard to break 200 wHP in the FA20.

I don't see how by adding headers and cams and all aforementioned products someone wouldn't be able to reach 260 crank HP though. If you end up going the route of boring out the cylinders and making it a 2.1 or 2.2 liter, then that opens a whole other can of worms because then your talking different Air to Fuel Ratios, different tunes altogether, that could get interesting.

Hopefully I spurred some comments with all this information.

HP increase from various parts don't stack like cards buddy.

For what its worth...

Sorry to dig up an older thread.

Attached is my Dyno sheet from some work I had done a few months ago. I just found this thread and thought I would share.

My butt Dyno says that yeah there is more power, I havent driven a stock 86 in a long time so I cant compare how it is vs stock, Ill have to find one one day and compare them back to back.

Now a few Caveats*

1) This is only 1 Dyno sheet, remember Dyno's are tuning tools.
2) This has not been verified on a another Dyno so take it with a grain of salt.
3) My car has had a few mods done to it (see list below)
4) Yes, I have been told Im dreaming its making those numbers, ignore the peak power and look at the increase only.

Ok so mods:

- Skunk2 Alpha Headers
- Xforce Mid Pipe and Cat
- Xforce 2.5inch Cat Back
- Axle Exchange Aluminium Drive Shaft
- GFB Low Weight Pulleys
- Apexi Air Filter
- Enkei RPF1 17x8 Wheels w Hankook RS3s
- Custom Tune by Pulse Racing in Sydney Australia

Thats everything that would affect power.
