That's an interesting setup on the mr2. Any specs on the sw20 build? That intercooler setup looks awesome!

Honestly, I've learned more on my own then any books in school. The books in school are very basic... like the basics of the basics. My recommendation... use google when you run into issues and build things that are interesting for you. The good thing with SW is their are tutorials everywhere. Shoot for completely defined (all black) sketches.

Since then I upped the boost to 26 PSI, the intercooler, 2.5" to 4" exhaust, and the intake manifold. When I cracked the block, I think I was around 500rwhp and my injector duty cycle confirms 480+. And here I am, waiting on the very custom engine to be built. |

Woah! Definitely not off the shelf. You doing pumpgas or e85? Any heat soaking with that intercooler setup? I'm in the midst of gathering parts for a water2air intercooler setup but would rather an air2air. Problem is space since we know how tight the mr2 is for that. I am nit going to cut my trunk either as I am one of the few that actually does use it.
But seriously, why the custom motor? ATS could easily send you a 2.2L within a few weeks and they're pretty much the most knowledgable 3sgte builders around. But yea, 450 horse in an mr2 must be wild! I'm looking to push only 320whp with a KO Sb50 kit on a stock gen3 for simplicity. Stock ecu too. Any more and I'll be following you down that rabbit hole.

Why custom motor? Because the 3s doesn't really have a solid motor build in my opinion. I've had issues with ATS build quality in the past (not engines but parts) and I think going to a stroker with a 3s is the opposite way you want to go. They have a short rod from the factory, increasing the stroke even more just doesn't make sense to me. Hindsight, being 20/20, I would have done a much closer to stock-like build though, as waiting 1.5 years for an engine SUCKS! Stick with 300 and keep it fun . 450+ is fun and all chasing down Z06's, GT-R's, mustangs, etc... but it comes with one hell of an upkeep and their is always someone quicker. |

Back on topic:
Added another resonance chamber targeting 1450 RPM, exhaust note is definitely getting to a point that I really like . Welding has improved as well. And a picture with a nice AZ sunset: Last edited by eric6; 01-13-2015 at 12:45 AM. |

Legitimately one of the hardest things I've done in a long time. 12 hours straight to figure out how to get somewhat accurate suspension geometry to properly load the LCA. One step closer.

It's a possibility. We need to get a lot of data first and we have quite a few other larger projects in the works, but it has been discussed .
Here are some finished pictures of the 3s dry sump: Last edited by eric6; 01-13-2015 at 12:48 AM. |

I taught myself... it's all about getting behind the welding mask and putting that pedal down and learning.
