On each test I went both directions to account for any wind or elevation change. Air conditioning off and all traction controls off.
The 1st conclusion I realized is the car will do lower 0 to 60 times in automatic shifting by it's self over manual mode with me shifting @ 7000 rpm. I couldn't believe it at 1st but after a dozen runs or so The proof was on the clock. Full automatic mode was consistently 1/4 second faster. Loading the converter to 2000 rpm gave me slightly better times than nailing the gas from idle.

After several base line runs the best I was able to do was a 8.28 0 to 60 time. This was consistent over several runs.

1st change, installed a stock replacement K&N air filter. Once again several runs in all modes netted me only a 8.27. Not worth the 50 bucks in my opinion. It's going back.
Time for some 4.55 gears and a closer first and second kit from cusco...

Or a tune and header combo, either way, the car will pick up much more noticeably

By the end of the day I was on a roll, making nice shifts and good laps. I had a ball.
Anyway, completely show room stock after 50 or 60 laps I finished the day doing a 2.16 lap.
Here's a video of some 2.22 laps taken early on.

That is one beautiful looking track! One more reason for Lisa and I to visit Oregon again.

I need to double check, but I think when the transmission is in Sport mode (even when manual shifting) it will allow you to downshift into a higher RPM. I've had the car downshift in auto mode with Sport turned on at very high RPM, to the point of surprising me (not on a track, always in manual shift mode on the track). I want to say from memory that it will downshift into the 6k range...

I'll have to give that a try.

Old gear out, new gears going in, just waiting for a shim from Scion.

I ordered my exhaust today, DC Sport header, Over Pipe, and Front Pipe.
And Perrin resonated 3" exhaust.
I'll have the header ceramic coated before installing it.

Due to a vacation it will not get installed until later this month. Then after installing it and my new cold air intake it's off to the Dyno shop.

I got my car back from the shop with my 4.88s today. I can really feel a difference, esp starting from a stop sign, very easy to break the stock tires lose if your not carful.
Cruze 60 mph is 2400 rpm, 70 mph was 2700 rpm. I can live with that.
Haven't done and acceleration runs yet. That will come later, to darn hot today to run with out AC.

You'll have to let us know if that DC Sports front pipe works out for you. A few people on the forums had some pretty bad fitment issues with it.

Been a while since I have posted. lot has happened. The DC header was not available so I went with a equal length header from "Top Speed" I thought it was a pretty nice looking header for 400 bucks. Haven't got it back yet, still at the coaters being ceramic coated.
This will mate up with Perrin resonated 3".

Made myself a gauge cluster. 2 1/16th gauges. Engine oil and tranny temps, and boost for possible future FI.

I don't have a picture but installed H&K super sport springs just to get it down a bit for appearance. Have Nitto NT0-1 tires and tomorrow my new Enki RPF1 wheels will be in.
I also installed Project MU Club Racer brake pads. Boy do they work nice.

Got together with my neighbor why is a custom painter and works with carbon fiber to make a pair of vented fender inserts. You can really feel the heat coming out of these things.

Installed a Mishimoto oil cooler, a cold air intake, and a set of Perrin pulleys. Yes, I did put the pulley guard back on the alternator.

And tonight I painted my tail lights.
So that's it for now. Just minor, mostly cosmetic toys and bling to have fun with.
