Volts' 2013 FRS Journal

Hello! Thank you for taking the time to check out my post, it means a lot.

My name is Daniel, I'm a 17 year old student going on 18 this upcoming Sunday. The FRS is my first car and for my age I am extremely fortunate and lucky to have purchased this vehicle in the first place.

We pulled her off the lot with just below 39,000 Miles, It had only one previous owner and was involved in no accidents.

In the near future I plan on doing some visual modifications to the car such as new wheels and tires, a new exhaust kit, potential work on the body with new fenders, bumpers, etc. As for under the hood I only so far see replacing my Inlet hose and redoing the exhaust with a newer catback system.

I'll be completely honest and straightforward and tell you that this build won't be anything crazy compared to the others on this forum. I'm not in a position where I can completely go crazy with the car just yet being as young as I am, but hopefully, I can make it have more of that unique "mine" factor rather than that off the production look and feel.

LOOK THROUGH THE THREADS COMMENTS FOR MY UPDATES!

All of this being said, I hope to see some of you tag along for the ride

I actually love the look of the stock car. I'm a bit iffy on completely redoing the look of the vehicle in terms of things I cant go back on. I plan on slapping a gold tow hook on it, plasti-dipping my current wheels to match the hook and then getting a cheap front bumper lip and going with a black finish / carbon fiber. If i don't like the rims it wont be a huge mess or waste of money to fix them just peel off the dip, towhooks come out in 10 mins, easy things.

Thank you for checking the thread

Update - 3/6/2017

My 18th birthday was last Sunday

I got a pretty cheap tow-hook from my sister for my birthday that I'll be installing most likely tomorrow. It was extremely cheap and I'll leave a screenshot of the hook below but I really wouldn't trust it, I'm going to just use it for aesthetic purposes as of now.

I took some money and ordered myself my first under the hood modification which is my Inlet hose replacement. Heard a lot of good things about the hose and soon I'll drop a Perrin or K&N drop in air filter to go with that.

I made a quick call to a local body shop today and asked for a fast quote on a plastidip job on my OEM 17 inch rims and I'll shortly be stopping by for a quote. (I want them to cover the black circle with the scion logo in the middle, and go gold around the rest of the wheel)

I know plastidip has a very negative look by a lot of people and I do realize it wont be a permanent fix and it will need to be redone often, but the point of me doing this to my rims is to just see how I really feel about the color scheme in general. I don't want to just drop $600-$700 on a set of wheels and not like them. So don't crucify me!

Here are the items I've purchased. feel free to leave feedback. Hopefully I'll be posting soon.

unless you were at a track, why would you even put a tow hook on your car? Installing one that you wouldn't trust to be used as a tow point is unfathomable.

Thanks! I look forward to it. And the whole point of getting a cheaper tow hook, plasti dipping things etc for now is just to really get a feel for what I actually want to finalize. A $30 tow hook and a decent plastidip job will be easy to get rid of if i change my mind.

Sorry for the inactivity! been extremely busy with school and all! Last weekend I had the opportunity to finally install my Inlet Hose from Perrin performance. Next up on the list I'm looking at purchasing a Greddy Oil Filter and dropping in a K&N Air Filter when I return from Florida next week.

Hey nice ride man! I'm also extremely jealous that you have her at 17. I was taking the bus until 29 lol. Have you noticed any improvement with the inlet tube?

Thank you! I love the blue on this car. and as for Age I'm extremely fortunate and blessed to have a father who is into cars and was supporting of the idea, it's slowly turning into a cooperative project to work on.

It might be in my head but with the inlet tube I feel like the throttle was maybe a bit more touchier. I know combining that with the K&N I should feel a difference for sure, reading reviews on the KN alone i've heard you can feel a bit of a difference. down the road I might switch to Cold air intake but as of now thats the route. I paid like $70 for my hose from Perrin's shop on amazon, i'd recommend getting it. it's a little touch to the engine bay that looks awesome and its cool to remove that clunky sound tube
