Ease of installation, image/video quality, etc.

I was looking at the Arlo Pro/Pro 2 since it's true wireless, but I've read that the video quality is terrible, and the rechargeable batteries stop charging after a few months. Also, having a 3+ second lag between motion detection and actually recording kinda defeats the purpose of it being a security camera.

After my packages have gotten stolen multiple times, I went ahead and shopped around for a camera system. I ended up with the AvertX 8-channel from Costco, which is a wired set-up that comes with 4TB storage, cables, software, etc. Installation can be a bit of a PITA, depending on where you are planning on installing the cameras (I had to crawl around the attic blindly feeding wires into holes I drilled outside under the eaves, definitely should have been a 2 person job, it was not fun).

I'd avoid wireless all together because of the reasons you mentioned. Last thing I want is to realize the cameras are dead or the quality is bad when I really need footage after a break-in, theft, etc.

My aunt just got 3 wireless cameras a little over a month ago that work pretty good. Good vid quality even at night. Will ask what brand and how the batteries are and get back to you

It'll be on a two-story house, and I'm not sure if my bro would want me drilling holes into his brand new house. lol. Unless I some how convince him, but routing the cables and wires will become my issue.

Also, if anyone knows anyone who is looking to buy a washer and dryer pair, I'll be selling mine some time in February when I move. I'll make a formal f/s thread in the f/s section at the appropriate time, along with stock FR-S suspension parts (can sell these at any time before February) and maybe a couch and love seat/sofa (February).

As previously mentioned, it's more about where you intend to put the cameras. Some spots are easier than others, and wiring isn't all that bad.

I'd get wired because you won't have to touch the cameras ever again.

The set I ordered was from newegg.com (I think) and it's several years old and still running strong. The only thing I'm worried about is the hard drive failing. Best part is I don't have to do replace any batteries so I don't need to grab the ladder.

Also, I don't think you'll be needing cameras for the second floor. The first floor should be enough .. any suspicious person will be caught on camera climbing/pulling up a ladder (depending on your camera location set up).

Just first floor. I mentioned two stories since I wouldn't know how to get the wiring through without a crawl space in between the floor and ceiling. Haha.

I'd want two at the front door, one pointing towards the driveway and garage, and one at the back of the house. Ideally I'd also want one at the side of the house.

Going to Vancouver next month for work . Taking recommendations on things to do at night or during the one full weekend day that I’ll have to spend. Food, beer, etc. Expensed, of course.

Which Vancouver? WA or BC?
Kinda makes a difference.

BC: Gastown, Stanley Park, Grouse Mtn. tram to the top, UBC, Capilano Suspension Bridge, Granville Island Market, Japadog on Burrard.
Get sushi.
Drive up the north shore. Horseshoe Bay and up to Squamish. Some huge granite walls.

WA: uh... Portland?

Haha, Canada of course!

Won’t have a car so probably can’t do anything too far from the city.

Drill down downtown on google maps.
Tons of places to eat on Granville, Howe and Burrard.
Granville Brewery on the island under the bridge.
Rent a bike or scooter and tour the waterfront from False creek to Stanley and around to Gastown. Stunning views everywhere.

Has anyone slept or used a gravity blanket? Looking to get one for a Xmas present. Just trying to see if the hype is real.
