I did the same, took out the foam in order to zip tie/foam tap anything possibly rattling. Kind of scary to pry them that much but it worked, nothing broke, and all went back together.

Those clips are very easy to remove when I install rear strut bar. Just use the tool below. You can use this tool for almost all the trim clips in the car. No need to spend money for expensive tool.

I agree. Not to mention, there's no need to have a hard-on for US made tooling when you're driving an imported vehicle!

I removed the clip but when I try to put back it can no longer insert firmly.. looks like I damaged something on the other side of the clip, Is there a way to fix this ?

I use a fork I broke in middle and a thin computer flathead. I used to have a thin special tool like below but it was forgotten somewhere.
