5x100? fail
just by being 5x100 the limitations on wheels options are huge! :/ |

The 5*100 bearings on the 04 STI suffered from flex, causing pad knockback on the Brembo calipers. Moving to the beefier 5*114.3 bearing fixed that for the 05+ STI. That's what the "fail" is, though I struggle to think most owners even know what pad knockback feels like.

Sorry.. I meant that the bearings were (constantly) worn out. Mind you that I had to replace bearings every season. And the brake pedal never felt solid (unless you tap with the left foot to seat the pads). I sold the car because of the padknockback. But in hindsight, I don't think it was so bad & should have stuck with it.

Did you/your shop re-pack the bearings with high performance grease?
My local race shop does this and get good results, fewer failures. Quote:

Nothing in 93-04 came with huge opposed piston fixed calipers (USDM anyway), which coupled with the hub or upright design caused the flex IIRC.
The 5*114.3 bearing/hub/upright of the 05+ STI is certainly superior, but I don't think many WRX with stock brakes have had bearing trouble unless tracking and killing them from heat. |

56mm hub bore, as predicted. Any Subaru fitment wheel currently on the market will fit (at least PCD and hub bore, you're own your own with offset). |

I'm thinking about doing the TE37s 18s probably. I put those in GT5 on a white GT86 with the white TE37 looks amazing I'll post some pictures when I get home tonight. They do make 5x100 and they're my favorite rims pretty much light weight and they are Volks so will be great wheels for daily and track however, a bit pricey so idk maybe some other light weight wheels but cheaper ones.

^ i have a feeling despite the subaru 5x100 bearing failure (i have also experienced with my BH) The Zx6 bearings should at the very least not suffer from the same problems of the past. (if they played it smart and learned from user reviews).
