This looks like the 'GTS' spec of the Australian variant:

http://www.toyota.com.au/86/range

With some nicer things. Yay to my american brethren getting the higher spec!

Taking into exchange rates and current pricing of australian GTS, i'm going to estimate a price difference of ~$4500 USD for the special edition.

EDIT - OH DAMNIT I miss read the number!
Never mind below I am a fool and should not reply before coffee! I will leave the original reply for posterity.

That is why you can't use exchange rates for comparing prices! Applying US to you cars makes tem seem cheaper and applying yours to Us dollars inflated the price. They would be around $32K USD if they came here. At $45K they would sit on the lots and rust away.

26.5k + 4.5k = 31k USD

What is the attraction to BBKs? Serious question. Is it just because it's factory option race car parts or...???

I suspected it was a cool/respekt thing. I'd like big slotted rotors to but not for $2000

yuppppppppppppppppppppp looks ahah... but honestly shouldn't the added size/pistons help increase braking potential if/when you're on track? I imagine you just need to change out the brake oil and you're good to go.

Also, probably the 86 special edition will look like the one from aussie as mentioned above.

They increase heat capacity is all(takes longer before they start fading). They don't make you stop in a shorter distance. Of all race car parts used on the street, they are probably the least useful since you could never get your brakes hot enough to fade on the street. I admit they do look very good though

Never saw them before a day or so ago, but Rolloface makes some snazzy looking BBKs. I'd probably stop go with the Essex Sprint if I had a ton of money to throw away but just saying I guess

It's not like all you're getting is a BBK with the performance package. And some people are already getting the package for less than 2k.

There is no reason to buy an 86 over the BRZ now unless you really like the front bumper.
