To be honest... I'm not 100% sure... the one shop that runs them is pretty secretive about it... here is a link to one of their cars if you want to see it... They wont even let him post pictures of the new manifold I believe. Its nuts haha, how secret they are being about a "dead" GM platform like the Cobalt. I am pretty sure they are using a stock ECU with modified programming via HP tuners dual injectors are not stock. They are simply using them to get enough ethanol in the cylinders. The factory turbo cobalts have direct injection (LNF engine), the factory supercharged cobalts (LSJ engine) have standard port injection. Everyone uses HP tuners for domestics it seems like.

interesting. im guessing the stock ecu wont have provisions to tune a second set of injectors. so perhaps they are using something like a meth injection kit and spraying e85? if the FT's ecu is programmable, tuners will have to learn how to tune both DI and PI together, seamlessly, on the ecu.

I'm sure you are right but they haven't released any info, they were going to sell it to people so I'm thinking the tuning isn't that big of a deal. We have stock widebands on the turbo cobalts, so I think maybe the injectors for their respective cylinders are on the same loop, just driven by the AFR or something... but honestly I have absolutely no idea. As far as I know the manifold injectors are fed from the fuel tank as usual, the DI fuel also comes from the fuel tank via the same pump as the manifold injectors, they just use a large, LARGE pump. This setup is pretty much only for running ethanol on the DI LNF motors since we run out of fuel system at about 410lbs/ft of torque on ethanol (where I'm at right now). We can't get enough ethanol in the cylinders. They were going to just release the manifold and injectors for people to buy and install but they cancelled it cuz I guess it wasn't cost effective. IE- for the cost of that setup, I can just tune the car for C16 and run that instead of ethanol. Using a Meth/H20 injection system would not get close to the fuel I would need to run straight E85... Heck even that car's "secondary" injectors in the intake manifold are 60lbs injectors haha that's pretty big.

In the article, they say that there will be lsd only for the sportier version whitout the rear-seats. Damned thats very sad. Hope they will offer a lsd as an option in the basic car.

Still a little confused, The article states that a Torsen is a torque sensing mechanical diff. So what is the advantage of a non torque sensing diff?

If you lose 100% of traction on one drive wheel a torsen transfers 0 torque to the other wheel. This is rarely a problem though unless you like jumping the car a lot around corners or offroading. Maybe in extremely slick ice too.

Basically if you are in an extremely tight turn and lift a wheel, you won't get power until the wheel touches down again, similar to an open diff. As long as you have some traction on the wheel that is slipping it will transfer some percentage of the torque to the opposite wheel, meaning when you are powering out of a turn the power will shift to the outside wheel. You can "fake" it by pulling up the ebrake, not so much to lock up the wheels but enough to give some resitance for the diff to push against. A mechanical locking diff will actually sense differences between the shaft speeds and apply a certain amount of lock to try and equalize them, so it will still work if one wheel is lifted.
