Jack Hollis said in an interview that he thinks they will sell a lot within the first few months because of all the enthusiast's. After the first year, I see this being an S2000 all over again.

yeah no way will they ever sell 25k unit month They would have to add the convertible, and sedan..then maybe they will jump up to like 3,500 units a month....that's 42,000 units a year...

The reason why there was over 2600 units sold in June because it was for initial demand. FR-S units will be sitting on dealers lots come November...

They will do better than the S2000 because the FR-S is way cheaper and it has way more space and looks way better than a S2000. But you are right 1500 units a month is about all they will ever be able to sell...which is good...which is 18000 units a year...370Z sales level....

Definitely, as awesome as the car is it just can't compete on paper to the other cars. A typical buyer will see the price, then look at the horsepower, then ask if it has a turbo (boost!), and then decide from there. It doesn't matter how good the car handles because 90% of driver's never leave the highway or city traffic.

If anything, I see the FRS/BRZ taking some Miata buyers.

the more they sell, the more aftermarket parts wil be in demand, the cheaper the parts will be.

this is very good for the consumers.

If you want a cheap aftermarket buy a mustang or a civic, the frs/brz will never have a cheap aftermarket. That's just the way it goes. I'm not saying you can't afford it, but if anyone is buying this car because they think it will be easy to mod as in cheap then they are going to be disappointed.

I want it to sell well enough so that it doesn't go the way of the RX8, or Supra, or any other car that cam and went. I don't want to see it on every corner though.

Agreed, they just want everything to be 86. I just learned the exhaust tip has a 86mm diameter in Eurospec GT86s.

Agreed, the S2000 cost $10K more than an FR-S and that was in 1999. Factor in for inflation, and that would be the equivalent of the S2000 selling for $48K today. Convertible, and no rear seat as well...

FR-S is just a cheaper car that should appeal to more people. I think the initial sales will be strong for 2-3 years then you may see things start to level off, depending on the competition.

But no doubt, this is good news for Subaru and Toyota out of the gate. Sales are strong and demand is high and looks to be for some time.

Very good for the future of RWD sports coupes in the $28K and below range

Which is good for me, as I want more choices and to keep car manufacturers on their toes.

Never, given the fact it is a 2 door and only a 2 door they won't sell as many. The reason these cars die is because the majority of the population needs a car that is convenient, this car isn't all that convenient for families unless it is just a second car etc.

But that they will be more common than a Toyota Supra, yes...

The Sales of AE86 never lasted forever..neither will this car. Give it 10 years max...

Nissan Z
You never know the Nissan 370Z car is still selling fairly strong, probably will get even better in the next generation which supposedly will be lighter and maybe with higher tech engines...

Honda has no balls...
But remember Honda gave up on the S2000 and NSX, and Integra\RSX, all they had to do was redesign them...

Nissan Silvia (the only possible FR-S\86\BRZ competitor)
Nissan has pretty much brought all of its old sports cars back (GTR, 370Z), except for the Silvia...which we all know Nissan is working on bringing it back too...they better....

Mazda Miata
Mazda never lost faith in their Miata, but they are moving too slow for a major update. They can't go 10 years between major updates. It should be 7 years max just like Nissan does it with the Z car.

I just realized there are no other cheap light weight, RWD sports cars...There is a market for them....If you think about it, the FR-S\BRZ twins are in a market by themselves. The Miata is a real roadster in a market all by itself. There are no other less than $30k RWD lightweight roadsters. The FRS\BRZ are real RWD lightweight coupes. Even the 370Z is not a coupe it's a hatchback (a sleek looking one, but it is a hatchback)

Since the FR-S\BRZ are successful, you will see Honda come out of the wood works and bring to the table a RWD lightweight coupe....they have too....because they have no cheap sports cars...what am I saying they have NO sports cars at the moment.
