As a car enthusiast I give a thumbs up to anyone driving a car which appeals to me but definitely give a wave to anyone in a subaru sports car (wrx, sti, BRZ, or FRS).

Heck yeah! I'm told there's only one other in my town so far, so if I see them they're getting a very enthusiastic hello. Lots of WRX/STi folks giving me the same so far, finding myself talking to people wherever I stop (many Subie owners & enthusiasts around here). Seeing one of these on the road is the best advertizing Subaru could have asked for, this car gets lots of attention.

In the uk as a sportsbike rider I normally nod at other sportsbike riders - and british bikes, BSA's, Nortons, Triumph - most other types of bike are either commuters and not really enthusiasts or are mid 40's and have bought a harley & think they are badazz

In my Mazdaspeed 6 (Mazda6 MPS in the UK) I used to lift a couple fingers off the wheel to acknowlegde - got embarressed when they didnt do it back sometimes

Ditto.

Last "community" vehicle I owned was a CJ-5 in PDX area, they all waved. Everyone else gave me the finger for sidepipes blowing exhaust in their windows!

If this car ends up being the next v6 mustang and everyone has one then I probably will only wave to other tastefully modified ones.

Back in the day, before Subaru became a mainstream brand, everyone smiled and waved at each other. There just so few of us it was a real novelty to see another one on the road. Sadly, a sense of community lost due to popularity of the brand.

If you don't wave and a member recognizes you, you get banned from the forum.

VW guys wave, Honda guys will wave The middle finger at V-dub guys, Porsche guys ignore each other while trying to figure what kinda cool expensive carbon fibre mods the other guy has, Lotus guys wave at their reflections in the city (because nobody else drives a Lotus) Ducati guys get the low wave from anybody on a bike. British car guys always stop for each other because the prince of darkness has likely struck (Lucas) and they know they are likely to be next...
I fully plan to wave at anyone who has this car (BRZ/FRS). Besides in the South it's considered polite to wave to anyone who waves at you!
(yankees will look at you like you're retarded though, thus identifying themselves as damn yankees)

I can say all this because I have done all this...
