Yes. Just make sure you prepare your suspension of disbelief before watching.

yes. the first is a spectacular time capsule of '00's (car) culture in a not-low-budget-but-not-high-budget-either kinda way. the 3rd does decent with that with japanese car culture in a wide-sweeping-american-generalization sort of way. the 2nd movie is a money grab.

then the series became very profitable, and i read somewhere the studio wanted MOAR, but feared continually promoting illegal street racing, so from the 4th on it became a fantasy crime-fighting series with cars. check reality at the door, it's no longer needed.

still some of the best car movies of the 2000+ era...

In all honesty. I have been working on my 4Runner project since the end of 2012.

At least it is garaged.

The small town where my parents moved just after I joined the Army in 76 had a small Chrysler dealer.
They had a beautiful, mint condition 69 Dart GTS 440 with around 10,000 miles on it sitting out front. I Immediately went and asked how much. Was told it was the first car they had sold and they had just bought it back so it was not for sale. For the next several years I popped by and asked if they were ready to sell it since it never EVER moved. They would not even though they had been offered buckets of money for it.
After about 5 years the rear window got broke and the animals moved in totaling the interior. After about 10 years of snow and rad salt being pushed against it the whole front end rusted out. All the tires eventually went flat and the wheels sank into the asphalt. They never did a thing to it it just sat there in front of their lot.
When the closed down in 2004 the bank sold it to a local for $200 since he wanted the engine and some parts. The engine was seized so bad it could not be salvaged even with a total rebuilt, the frame was completely missing and all the steering and suspension were rusted solid. All he could salvage were the emblems and some interior chrome trim. He got $80 for it for scrap.

There is a whole pile of complete and total bullshit even in the first one. They go downhill for "realism" from there. Still fun little action movies though
