I noticed a 1000 dollar discount for college grads or something, but dunno if that's ongoing.

The Miata gets away with low power because it doesn't upset the chassis, and it has a great chassis. You can't easily step into oversteer, so there's no need for throttle corrections. You rely on weight transfer to point the car, but it's so rewarding. I like that style of driving a lot more than correcting mistakes with power.
Maybe that's where the FT-86 will differ for me. The reviews seem to indicate that you can oversteer easily (especially on eco tires) but that corrections cannot be made due to the lack of power. Maybe this was something they were testing with an early mule, or entirely the tires' fault, or an overzealous tester. Who knows? I just hope the stability control is totally defeatable and that over/understeer has been dialed in for use with proper tires. |

2667lbs is pretty nice i originally thought it was going to be 2700 to this is good. The peak torque does seem to be pretty high up at 6600rpm, would have been better if it was more like 5000... 4000rpm suggested earlier was like impossible tho lol

Yes. The college grad and military discounts are actually rebates. The college grad is a nice program, you can get tier 1 financing as long as you have graduated within the last 2 years and make at least $1300 a month if I'm not mistaken.

Since the size of the engine is 1998cc and not 1995cc like the FB20 Does that confirm that this FA20 is a completely new engine???

I think people are reading into the 6600 rpm max torque too much. For all we know, it could have 150ft-lb at 3000. The fact that it has 148ish at 7000 suggests it's probably not that peaky, but I could be wrong.
EDIT Oh what this confirms (most likely) though is no variable lift/duration. If it had that, max torque would come sooner, or they pulled a Honda and went for low speed=efficiency. |
