Just been to Toyota Service and Parts (looking for a clip that I lost in the abyss of my interior panel) and asked them about maps update. I was told that they should already be the latest. When I informed him that they were 2010Q3 maps, he went and asked someone else who told me that, "Yup. Those are the latest."
"Seriously? 2010 is the latest?" I said. "Is that because the vendor hasn't released any update?"
"Yea that must be it," he said.
I got the impression that he didn't know much about the Nav system.

The best ppl to hassle would most likely be Fujitsu-Ten, which may or may not help you. How often they do map updates is anyones guess, I'm guessing not as often as say TomTom or Garmin who specialize in GPS hardware & Whereis & Navteq who do the software. A 2012 car should come with late 2011 software at the very least I would have thought !

The nav software inside the Fujitsu Ten/Eclipse IS done by Navteq. I'm going to try simply replacing the old map files with the new ones and see what happens. It'll have to wait till this evening when I get home though.

Just remember how cheap we got this car for, and hope that later model revisions have a better unit one day. We can upgrade to that one.

Very true. And if Toyota release a hi-po TRD version I'll swap instantly, if the price is right of course

You're right. I'm not complaining. It's just different to what I expected. =)

Anyone interested in replacing the GTS head unit with the Adayo Android one?

I know Skorov is.

This Head unit sucks...

Still don't get why sat nav's exist. Funny how everyone managed without them not so long ago.

Have had my 86 for 4 weeks now. Used the Sat nav 0 times.

Everyone managed without the Internet 20 years ago. But without it, I would never have met you. :happy0180: It's just handy to have.
