I searched on cars.com. People thought I was crazy for buying from a dealer 30 miles away from me. 1000 miles later and I love this car more and more. I would have traveled much further if I knew the BRZ was THIS good.

It's all based on location. A buddy of mine walked into a Subaru dealership and walked out the same day with his BRZ. Literally 2 minutes down the street I picked up my FRS 3 months later, I walked in without a wait and drove out with one the same day. Both are white as well.

It seems like most BRZ's are given to reviewers and aftermarket markets...
you aren't going to get one if you haven't placed your order now, i was told capitol subaru gets 6 BRZ per month til end of the year, and base on all the delays and what not, some people wont get theirs til mid next year.

i was the 3rd BRZ rolled off the lot, and that's only cuz i ordered it on the first day of the pre-order.

i suggest place your order and call in every week to see if anyone backs out on their order, and maybe stop by often to make some dealer friends... who knows.

maybe better off to just get a FRS ;P

It drives me crazy that there are available BRZs just sitting in lots over there waiting for a buyer. All BRZs here have to be ordered online and are allocated on a first come first served basis by Subaru Australia.

And they're rather a long way behind on filling orders. I ordered mine 2 weeks ago, and it's scheduled to be built Oct/Nov 2013. I'd fly across the country if it meant I could get one now and drive it back to Sydney, or happily pay the extra to have it shipped or whatever.

Consider yourselves lucky you have the option of just buying one, even if it might be a long drive or flight to get it.

It could be worse!

Yeah, it's a little weird that they did things the way they did. I was told that Subaru of America based their BRZ allocations on how dealers did with WRX/STi sales. Well, sure we sell plenty of AWD cars in New England but RWD cars? Well, they're a bit slower. I mean, our dealer hasn't had a BRZ since August, but there are still at least 80 unsold units in New England as of this writing. I'm sure they'll sell, but I feel bad for people who are still waiting on ordered cars. And it keeps tempting me to try to get one sooner than next spring, but I need to be more financially stable first.

There's two on the lot advertised at invoice a few miles from me. Subaru kinda dropped the ball with allocations.

Twice I've purchased cars from outside of Alaska and either drove them up or shipped them up. It astounds me that most people aren't willing to drive from one coast to the other to get what you want (or even a day's drive). I ALMOST bought my BRZ from California and planned on driving it up because Autotrader kept showing them available and mine was taking so long.

Maybe it's just because I live in an adventurous state that I'm more inclined to go the distance? With the way everything worked out in getting my WRX sold and BRZ purchased within the same day up here, I'm glad I waited. Financially it was a better move. However, if financially you're doing well, I would advise looking beyond 500 miles since that's not even a full day of driving.

Just my $0.02 from the largest state .

Bought mine from Massachusetts for between invoice and MSRP. I ended up shipping it, but it actually would have been cheaper to fly up and drive the car back, as I would have made it home on the dealer included tank of gas (~400 miles).

Just got back last night from New Hampshire for a similar price. I had them leave the factory wrap on and sealed the remainder with blue painter's tape. Goes to the detailer this weekend.

If anyone is interested in a BRZ limited 6mt with 8700 miles shoot me a pm with an offer. Hate to sell it but I'm buying a house so hoping to get rid of the car payment.

Some states, like mine, have have no sales tax, so it would come down to paying your states fees at registration time. Buying from a state with a sales tax, you might be able to claim some exemption on your states fees for some or all of the tax paid. Also, the out of state might treat the "delivery" and sale is if it's in your state. I've heard dealers outside of NH do that with NH buyers so they don't pay the other states sales tax. I haven't bought out of state so I could be completely wrong.
