If you look at the TSB that was just posted, it says Subaru on it.

So yeah, it IS Subaru saying F U!

If they're not covering this at some point.. then I guess we have to split open our own lights and put some thicker gaskets. (there's DIY on this)
The gasket in question is not the seal between inner and outer halves of the tail light assembly. It's the gasket that seals the assembly to the body.

The housings are not sealed around the light bulb sockets. so if water gets past the main gasket, it simply drips in past the light bulb. Re-sealing the housing to the body is the key.

I've noticed that the rubber boot that protects wires going to the truck lid interferes with the weatherstripping that seals the trunk. When I wash the car water pours into the trunk unless I try to pull the boot forward when I close the trunk. ( can be tricky not to pinch fingers). Maybe that is contributing to condensation.

4.5 months later the condensation is back. Guess I'll keep taking it in until fixed.

It keeps happening due to how water flows past the tail light housings and because the factory gaskets suck and aren't fully sealed to the housings. It's going to keep happening until Toyota/Subaru produce it correctly, which I have little faith in.

We shouldn't have to fix this ourselves, but I took the time to do exactly that and it works. Either hit up my Tail Light Gasket DIY or PM me for a set of slightly thicker, closed-cell neoprene gaskets with or without sealant included.

End the frustration yourself instead of making all those wasted trips to the dealership.

Uventually ALL the dealers will be like that (tail replacement is expensive) until the the design flaw is fixed.

Pour water on the back window with a garden hose, watch the tail lights.

The design flaw is obvious.

Do the same with the trunk open, watch the the top of the tails hidden by a closed trunk.

The fix is obvious. Cost me 99 cents and about 3 minutes to fix it. Still going strong in all weather.

I had the same thing. A thousand miles or so down the road, both lights were soaked inside.
They gave me new ones free of charge, but they didn't come with a new seal...I had to re-use the old one.
The new ones are now doing the same thing.
Horse shit.

I have a feeling that there is a blame game going on between Subaru and Toyota.

Subaru: "Look! You're f*$king shitty ass car shape is causing this!"
Toyota: "You're the idiotic engineers who chose to funnel water down there AND the material of seal to use"
Subaru: "YOU wanted a cheap sports car so we had to skimp somewhere!"
Toyota: "Skimp somewhere else NON-functional"
Subaru: "F*3k you!"
Toyota: "F#%k you too!"

I experienced the same thing- left taillight. Dealership replaced it and in process put a nice gouge through the paint on the right side of my bumper cover- nobody knows how that happened...
