Just picked up a 35mm lens. Going to force myself to carry my camera around this winter when I'm on vacation and wandering the city

So I've had Lightroom (LR3) for a while but never really got around to using it... I just always used PS. Now that I upgraded to the Nikon D750 from the D90 I wanted to develop my pics more professionally... so I started effing around with LR and I plan on using it from now on. Since my PS version is CS5 I cannot edit the D750's NEF files in either program. My workaround is converting the NEF files into Tiffs using Nikon ViewNX-i then opening them in LR. This is my first edit using LR3. I created a preset for the pics in this set. I'll get 💯 better with practice 👍...
Compared to the the before and after image, I've added back some warmth using a sepia filter in PS to the following images. I felt the image was too cold after looking at it some more. I feel like something is still missing though... I'll mess with them some more later... __________________________________________ projekt zeal86 build zeal.eightsix Facebook Instagram @zeal.eightsix Last edited by zeal86; 09-15-2017 at 01:19 AM. |

@zeal86 - you can use the free Adobe DNG converter to convert your NEF files into the DNG format. No loss of quality. Probably smaller than TIFF, too.

Right. Best to develop a Raw format file. Since you don't have the software for NEF, DNG solves the problem. This is the whole concept of a non-destructive workflow. You don't alter pixels when working with Raw/NEF/DNG. But what do I know? I was only an original beta tester for Lightroom and taught Photoshop for 8 years.

I have Lightroom 3.6...like I stated earlier I've had it for a while...lol Downloaded DNG Converter but it did not work for me, it wouldn't even see the D750 NEF files. In the meantime...I edited this pic today using my previously stated method... one of my faves so far since I started using my upgraded DSLR and started using Lightroom for the bulk of my adjustments. Biggest difference between this pic and my earlier LR edits is that I bumped up the contrast.
