I just installed the PCV can into my RHD 86. Well I have yet to install the hoses but it was getting dark. Anyway the sucker took a lot of persuasion to get into place and even then I wasn't sure I did it right -- the bracket isn't perfectly horizontal. I probably should have bought the LHS can instead.

With the bracket installed it's impossible to unscrew the can so I need a syringe or something to suck up the fluid through the dipstick hole.

It's what I used to do with a previous can with no drain. Big syringe and tube
Ahhh I didn't know that. I always thought that the oil would drain/drip out via the long tubing down near the bottom of the engine bay into an empty bottle when you want to empty it(like a fumoto valve). Learn something new every day!

I think I might root around and find a cheapie $2 spray bottle for emptying the Rad Catch cans cos I'm cheap like that lol.. Maybe utilised an old use spraybottle trigger from a cleaning product.. $0 lol

Better than spending the $60 for the petcock I think

Are these supposed to come with spring clamps for the hoses? I installed mine today and there weren't any clamps included. The photo on the Radium website shows 3 clamps per catch can kit.

So after a couple of weeks of daily driving, a weekend of autox, and a couple of hours of practice driving here's what i found in my catch cans. The dry one is inline to the intake tube, and the NOT dry one is inline to the back of the blower. Wow.

Holy crap obviously this is not a want but a "need" when boosted. Money well spent Bob.

So its safe to say that on a NA car thats close to stock ( minor bolt ons + tune ) the catch can on the PCV side is the only necessary one?

This is what I thought from beginning and after the results of people running dual set ups, the can on the intake side rarely ever has anything in it and this is from forced induction cars. Also from personal experience on previous turbo cars I've always ran dual catch cans and the intake side one never had anything in it.

So the PCV side is the one that actually caught anything? Not sure which one is which from your description.

So I was wrong in my initial response. I went back and looked and I'm pretty sure I have the cans connected to the crankcase breathers, passenger rear end of block, driver front end of block under AC unit.

still not to sure what you mean. I purchased only the PCV can. which is the one that would mount in front of battery. Is that the can with the oil residue in your picture? Or is it the one that didn't catch anything at all?

The passenger rear end of block sounds like the PCV?

NA you want it connected on the PCV, I've definitely caught oil in my Radium can coming from there after doing autox/track days.

So do you think just the PCV would be sufficient? I'm vortech supercharged and just bought the PCV side

has anyone noticed metal shavings in their catch cans? I am assuming metal flakes are dropping down from the steel wool. it makes me feel quite uneasy that some can be sucked into my intake. I started to burn a bit of oil recently. (~250ml over 3000kms)
