I've noticed after washing there is water between the seal and tail light. Will monitor for problems.

I noticed a bulletin regarding this on TMS USA's website earlier this week, so apparently they were already aware of the issue. They didn't have a fix or anything, it was just a notice telling dealers if they see it on a car to let Toyota know.

There was a similar bulletin regarding panel fitment on the FR-S.

I bought my silver FRS yesterday and I too noticed some condensation in the back tail light. I didn't really think much about it since I was rushing to work but I'll definitely keep an eye out for it again!

I don't know about Subaru or Toyota but I know Honda recalled some Fit's because of this. I imagine it must be under warranty.

Anyone else experienced this? It still hasn't gone away this morning. I think the tail light assembly has a bad seal or something...

Directly from the FRS repair manual:

Quote:
Section 4-3. Do-it-yourself maintenance (page 291)

Condensation build-up on the inside of the lens

Contact your Scion dealer for more information in the following situations. Temporary condensation build-up on the inside of the headlight lens does not indicate a malfunction:
  • Large drops of water are built up on the inside of the lends.
  • Water has built up inside the headlight.
I'd start by checking if the bulb sockets are properly locked into the tail lamp housing... might just be a loose socket. Otherwise, contact Scion immediately while the condensation is still there.

Great news! Toyota ordered a new tail light assembly for me! Azian_advanced thanks for the tips. Toyota dealership had a look at the assembly and decided it was best to just replace it.

Did they let you keep the old assembly? If so are you gonna practice on it for us? Give us a glimpse of what a blacked out housing looks like?

The dealership won't let him keep the old one. I'm guessing Toyota will want it back, and even if they don't, the dealership still has to hold onto it in case they do want it back, unless they don't want to get paid for the job.
