But I assume there might be a lot of dealers installing them in an effort to mark up the price a bit.
Port installed not factory installed. Even the RS1s had to have all their special parts install after arrival.

That video makes me dislike the new gen even more. And that interior looks so bad. I prefer that fake carbon look. This new cloth on the dash looks like something someone would tack on in the aftermarket world.

There could be a special edition we have not heard about but just one trim was said several times in the official statements. Little doubt it is monospec for 17.
Could be a while before we hear about a special edition though since they were usually released in the winter. Gotta keep the hype up during the slow months.

They really should have went with regular leather on the dash instead of the alcantara type.

2017 Toyota 86 - new name, styling, and more power

I was lucky enough to get a chance to drive the new 86 in stick this weekend on a closed track event my dealership hosted. To be honest, I didn't really feel the 5HP but could feel some differences in suspension a bit more stiffer I think but couldn't drive long enough to really feel it. Unfortunately at least for Canada the new 86 I drove didn't have the upgraded LCD that the new BRZ has The new dash interior is pretty nice and almost feels like alcantara which IMO is a nice accent rather than having the plastic. Here are some pics!

@Zaku seems pretty close with the car and the people involved with it. I think he might already know something most people don't?

Toyota claims the front bumper is lower and wider. Can someone confirm? I don't remember where I read it. It seems like the new bumper sits a tad higher (slimmer from front view). TIA

Nah He has pretty much said he is speculating along with the rest of us. Informed speculation is still speculation. I know I come across as negative but am really not. I just have lost any trust in anything that doesn't have Toyota/Subaru officially stamped on it. There is a pile of misinformation flying around and we tend to grab one little tidbit and run with it.
A good example is the TRD wheels mentioned above. Just because one came in with port installed wheels does not mean there is TRD version waiting in the wings. It is an option when ordering after all.

I totally get it, but at the same time there are good nuggets of information that are leaked here before any kind of official announcement. The RS 2.0 and Monogram were pretty much leaked here way before anywhere else.

Even look at Moto-P's post from April 2015 in reference to the 86 refresh.

Well, now that it is reaching its fourth year in production, the car is preparing for some revamping. We don’t have photos of what it looks like (and I cannot show you if I did…) but here are some very strong hints of details of what the changes will contain for 2018.

A new front face (bumper and auxiliary lighting, as well as a new headlight assembly
The plan also includes definitely, new rear tail-lamp assembly. And yes, nice to know, though I do like the current tail too… And, for lots of folks, it’s already replaced with an aftermarket one as well, right?
A new center console and meter cluster will be part of the 2018 model too, not just colors but also a new shape.
A revised power steering module programming to allow sharper steering input at lower speeds while making it less responsive at high speeds over 200km/h to easy Autobahn speed long cruising. (Wait?! Autobahn Speeds with current engine power? Well I suppose it does reach 200km/h yes, but not too much higher than that… Still it is a nice move forward and interesting that they would consider such limited use condition and still perfect it to that situation as well.4. A revision will be made further, to make a little more adjustments to the EPS and VSC programming, again, mostly to address SPORT mode parameters to accommodate sportier driving. Like I said before, I don’t even use the VSC on a raceway so this isn’t a huge change for anyone seriously competing already.)
With the upgrade also will include couples of beefier lower arms and rods, as well as driveshafts that are tiny bit larger and beefier.So…. I guess you are still asking if there is a turbo or any more power added. They hint that there will be slightly more power, but not in any significantly different way it will deliver it, and changes are more to address things they didn’t achieve in the first editions. I’m expecting a modest increase, but more revisions to cure those tiny bits that needed some attention before.

This was way before any kind of official announcement, yet he pretty much told us everything new about the car.

Lol! I don't really know anything, even if I do I can't talk about it. Till they allow us to etc etc. procedures. Even if I know people or have spoken to some important people, I can't talk about it because it would destroy my relationship with them or get them in trouble, that wouldn't be good.

I don't mind hinting things here and there like I've been doing since 09 lol

So I guess on that topic it's mono for 2017, can't say for 2018
