You unclip the original ones...pop the new ones in.

I fitted them in my BRZ MY18 also, smooth side down but along with the lower stoppers you should fit the wider-longer STI subframe bolts.

Yes, I used longer bolts. I think that stock bushings are too soft for this mod. I'm planning STi bushing replacement.

tS and STI BRZ respectively have same exactly subframe and bushes with us (20152CA000) so there is no reason to change bushes that is a painful procedure!

I think gpvecchi is talking about the JDM rear subframe, which includes stiffer bushings.

You are right tho, the 18 usdm ts is more similar to a regular brz than not.

Correct me if I am wrong but this subframe applies to 12-15 cars only, we both have MY18 cars.

I think that 2017+ have all the same subframes, but the lower stoppers are made for the 2015 Ts that had stiffer bushings. I tried and didn't work fine for me on my 2018 model. I will switch to stiffer rear bushings as I actually have all the front on TRD and STi bushings...

From what I remember, the 12-18 86s have the same rear subframe. Only change was I. The chassis itself.
