LOL

It's numb, but I do like the directness of the S2k's steering. There's absolutely no slop in it.

Yup s2ks are incredible machines...still deciding to trade mine for an frs. I absolutely love the frs looks n overall balance...I jst see the fixed top n hp difference to be the only two things that arent similar. .

Have owned two S2000s. 2001 AP1 and 2004 AP2. I wouldn't trade either of those cars for the FR-S. Just my opinion. Add the FR-S to the stable? Absolutely! However, if I had to narrow it down to either or between the FR-S or S2000, my choice would go with the H-car.

My fiance owns a 2002 AP1. With the FR-S we just bought, I'm driving her car as my daily. I honestly think the only thing she likes about the FR-S versus her S2000 is the newness factor. She's complained to me a few times about how the FR-S feels dirt slow. ROFL! But she still drives it and hasn't offered the car for me to drive during the work week. She's the one constantly nagging me about throwing on a supercharger for the car. Oh well.

Oh...the high RPM climb up to 9K...absolutely musical.

Just curious, what defines a numb steering wheel? Is it too much power steering assist from electronics?

First post...

I currently own a 2003 S2000 (have had 3 over the past 5-6 years or so.). It's set up pretty nicely right now (except I need proper coilovers in spring if I keep the car). I track/autox it occasionally, very novice level but trying to get more in to it (track it a few times a year, trying to get out to autox a lot more this summer). I am considering selling it for an FRS for a few reasons.

Theft is probably the biggest reason. Right now I luckily rent a place that has a garage, but I will be moving in with my girlfriend soon and not sure I'll be able to find a place with a garage that isn't stupid expensive. I really don't want to park my s2000 outside, even if it's under a car cover in a private driveway. I'd hate to have my OEM hard top stolen (~$3000, local guy had 2 hard tops stolen this past summer )

I love S2000's and have a lot of nostalgia with the cars. I also know the cars very well, and have a local S2000 mechanic that can fix anything, for very reasonable prices. My current S2000 is in very good condition with a lot of quality work done on it, and I really don't have anything else on it that I want to mod.

The FRS is enticing because it would be a new platform/adventure for me. It is the best of both world's (fun sports car but still practical enough to use as a DD). I could sell my DD 2000 Civic and drive the FRS year round with snow tires. FRS would make an awesome/practical DD and weekend autox car.

Lots of advantages to the FRS, but some disadvantages, like being down on power. Really aren't any other choices in the price range that I'd consider (370z is too fat, love E46 M3's but maintenance is expensive and they are at least 7 years old now, definitely can't afford maintenance on a Cayman, Elise is way too impractical).

Really don't have much to contribute to this thread, but have been appreciating the S2000 vs FRS feedback here. I am aiming to make the move in spring/early summer if I decide to do it.

I believe the S2000 is slower than the BRZ/FRS for normal day to day driving. You get majority of the torque at 2.6k RPM in the BRZ/FRS. You don't really get the additional power unless you're above 6k RPM in the S2000.

BRZ torque curve:

Sounds like the FR-S would be a good fit. And the FR-S/BRZ doesn't really feel any slower than an s2k, IMO. Can I codrive?

The S2000 is rev happy. Doesn't take but a short time to go past and beyond 6K RPM in every gear. It's not a chore to get to 6K RPM.

Hey, my seat of the pants feel tells me the S2000 is faster than the FR-S. Period. No one drives the S2000 below 6K RPM if they're somewhat driving it spirited.

I was just under the assumption that most people shift below 3k RPM in the S2000 90% of the time.

I used to drive a S2000, and it was embarrassing sometimes when the van next to you accelerates faster than you and you're already at 6k RPM.

Ayau, you crack me up.

Car won't even move at 3K RPM....I kid, I kid! You do have to get the car in higher RPMs for decent acceleration. Just for regular stop light to stop light commute, it does seem funny having to rev the engine up just to move from a dead stop. Why I liked the AP2 for daily driving better. It had a little more umph to get it moving without much effort unlike the AP1.

I come from a sportbike background so I'm familiar with hitting higher RPMs for power. As long as the motor generates the end product, I'll rev it to the moon if I have to.

Are you serious? Even when I'm driving the S2000 at the slowest pace (I can't stand) I still shift above 4000 rpm in 1st and 2nd gears, at a minimum. If you try to keep the revs below 3000 good luck out accelerating anyone as you'll be in 5th gear at 35 mph

I shifted at 3k and nobody honked.

You forgot the part where the S2000 has more aggressive mechanical gearing...
