1118am update.

Service secretary rep came out to notify me it is the clutch fork on transmission that is dry and needs grease. Not the TOB! Yay! Least for now, thats the issue.

Also, weather strip is orderer and will be replaced! Toyota if you read this, <3 ♡♡♡

No more leaving the car in garage on humid or rainy days!

hmmmm........maybe they just can't "deal with" a part of an assembly going bad. They need to replace the whole thing.

So, fire that puppy up, in the dealer's parking lot, slip it into neutral, jam the clutch pedal to the floor and hold it with piece of 2"x4". Leave it running.

Go into the showroom, have a cup of coffee, eat a couple of cookies, read the latest car mag and wait (I'm estimating 5 minutes).

When the TOB freezes, the clutch explodes and the flywheel grinds it all up and the pieces fly out through the bell housing ....... ask the tech to look at it.

NOW, they have something to work with ....... replace the flywheel, clutch, pressure plate ....... AND throw out bearing ....... an assembly .......

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is exactly why the dealers don't want the old timers after them.

They still need to drop the transmission but at the end of the day, you had better see a new throwout bearing on your invoice. Did you show them your vid? There's a whole lot more going on than just the fork squeak.

1:40pm Got car back.

Clutch fork thunk sound is half as loud now that its greased up and rattle is gone. Drover 30miles to test. Returning Wednesday to get weather strip put on rolling windows as there is a small leak on both front triangular windows.

I called Toyota HQ (number on my warranty) and they said if sounds return, then there is a possibility of a new transmission. If not, then the TOB would be replaced first and clutch assembly.

So happy they did everything quick! I feel weird not having my Charlotte at home.

Thanks guys.

LSS: fork and assossiated were not properly lubricated. Total work time performed at dealer was 4hrs. Mine took longer because besides pulling clutch and transmission I had to wait 45min during lunch, had oil change done and such.

Update 11/10/15

Sound returned and last Friday took to dealer for 4th or 5th time. Dealer ordered bearing. Today brought in. Will update at 3pm or so CA time. They now believe me that it is bearing. Also, greasing fork only worked temporarily. Once it rained it was game over. Issue returned!

Window seal leaking will be replaced, tob will be replaced and resting pedal fixed.

Hope no other issues come up.

P.s. 5 Rav4 in. Wonder what issue they may have?

It was always the TOB. I'm disappointed they actually removed the transmission and didn't bother to replace it the first time.

I pass on to you the teachings of a wise old man who once told me "Hope in one hand, shit in the other. See which one fills up first."

Ok, it was actually "wish" but you get the idea.

haha that's awesome! I'm going to steal that from you. I was really disappointed as well but they've made it better. I also fixed one of their computers last time I was there. I just wanted a thanks but I also got a free Toyota coffee mug.

Today they told me they wanted to keep car over night and perhaps for two days. Unfortunately I had to find my own ride home.just as I was making preparations, my service person asked if instead I'd like a vehicle to take home for a day or two. Of course I said yes! They hooked me up with a 2015 Camry.

...I gotta say. I love the room and response from throttle but I miss my grandma sports car. I also like the mpg but I miss my coupe.

Still haha thanks

Confirmed illuminati

Toyota just called. Tob replaced. Tomorrow they will return car and finish up testing. Theyll supply pictures.

My worry now is: could tob being bad cause flywheel/clutch uneven wear? Is that something i could expect in the near future?

All has been at no cost to me.

Unless it was completely seized, meh, probably not. Post up pics. Hopefully we'll see a shot of the pressure plate. That may tell a story.

Other side:

Dealer said, "the issue was that it was leaking grease."

LMAO

Anyway my theory is that it wasnt pushing in evenly. IMO looks a bit warped and first pic has bottom right a bit off metal sticking out.

Now, clutch engages good, chirps when going to 2nd..etc No noise when cold, warm or running or any shakiness/vibrating feeling.

Caught it in time. There's nothing about that bearing that would have damaged the pressure plate. Good on ya for taking care of it quickly.

Sorry I still have trouble with my English (Spanish is my first language).

What do you mean by this:

a) That the bearing seems fine and nothing would have occurred?
b) That the bearing seems like it would have caused something in the near future?
