How much did I break?

Hey guys, I done goofed a couple nights ago a hit a high curb on a center divider probably between 40-50mph and mangled my front left wheel and some of the parts around it.

Now I'm trying to assess the damage so I can figure out just how bad it really is and what needs to be repaired/replaced to get her on the road again. Had it towed home on a flatbed truck.

I'm a total novice when it comes to fixing cars but this was a salvaged purchase to begin with and I have decided to fix it myself.

Here is my google photos album of the damage:

https://photos.app.goo.gl/Upt5ceBokvYCo5528

From what I can tell, the wheel is obviously f***ed, and the ball joint on the control harm as completely come apart. I think after dislodged from the ball joint, the wheel slammed into the frame, hence the dents in the frame and the frame sized chunk missing from the wheel.

Not sure if I can just replace the ball joint in the control arm, or I need to get the whole arm replaced, and I don't know how to tell if the stabilizer bar or what else might be borked.

Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance

That control arm is pretzeled but, fortunately, they are designed to let go before damaging upstream components.

Your upright (hub support? nomenclature) is probably also damaged. Definitely replace the hub (bearing assembly).

Others will chime in with their experiences. Check my sig line for the service manual.

Damage like that goes well beyond just that corner. You will be fighting gremlins well after replacing what you THINK is broken.

I'd go ahead and replace the lower control arm completely, it looks like it could have been slightly bent. ($150)

Honestly id slap that on, put a bolt in that hole that's missing one and see how it drives around the block

doesn't look that bad to me, especially for a vehicle that's already salvage title

this is specifically why i have full coverage insurance. i drop it off at a shop, they repair it for a $500 deductible, and i get to complain if they get it wrong.

definitely need to check the mounting point measurements.

I second this. Just replace parts till it drives straight and will hold an alignment.

Not as bad as it looks I'd suspect. I've done similar. Replaced the replaceable bits and have had no drama since. Check your engine bay for battery acid. Sometimes it spills out the vent in impacts and syyips paint...
