first86- kinryu's whiteout frs
Been having great experiences with the new toy. Met a lot of great people as well. Canyoned many times and gotta say "this car teaches you how to drive. Learning the car and knowing where and how to go thru the apex of each corner with the least braking." Did not drive it too hard yet but well enough to get the feel of this cars potential. My 1st car was an 85 corolla sr5 (parked in a family friend's garage for over 7 years). Shiny red paint. Great car but since car was non op for soo long, had to fix a lot. Changed the 4ac engine 3 times. Had to sell it after a few years. 2nd car nissan 300zx non turbo. Targa top. (Good times) haha. 3rd car honda civic si 2002 (ep3) -my hot hatch -sold 4th car and still my daily - 2004 acura tsx 6speed manual -aspec edition. Rare on 6 speed manual. - the best and most smooth 6speed I ever drove in my life and still is. Each gear is like shifting in butter. VORTECH SUPERCHARGER ---V3 H67B COMPRESSOR WITH 3.48" DRIVE PULLEY @9PSI --- 294 Crank hp / 210 tq here is my review regarding the new upgrade: First off, this is what i was looking for in the frs. this car is well balanced but always wanted a little more power (a lot of people can relate to this here lol). living in Cali, i wanted to have my upgrades street legal. So I came across Vortech superchargers. Their superchargers are carb approved (wiating on stamping) and the power gains were linear on the power band. I personally wanted a supercharger over turbo charging since i also wanted to keep the balanced characteristic with no significant lag which happens on turbo cars. i wanted consistant power and supercharging really sealed the deal. You can tell once you open the hood that the quality is great and it has that oem look. The first day that i got the car back and drove it home from Vortech i was suprised by how much of a difference it made. below 3k rpm you already feel an increase in power over stock but once you pass 3k... youre in for a suprise. the power keeps climbing as you go over the rpms. i wasnt used to this yet and the back of my head actually pushed against the headrest. (something that i never felt driving the frs till that day). as i let go of the gas around 6.5k RPM, i heard the CBV (compressor bypass valve) making that famous "WHOOOSH" sound. My friend and I looked at eachother with a smile. i really like that the power is always there throught the power band. This was what this car needed in my opinion. Im really satisfied with what vortech has done for us fr-s owners. I hope everyone gets a chance to feel the difference. I take my fr-s to shows and events in SOCAL such as Autocon, Formula D car show, toyotafest and much more so when you see it ill be right next to it so ask questions anytime Power: *Vortech Supercharger *Tanabe Catless Front Pipe *Tanabe Medalion Touring Catback Exhaust *Koyo Radiator Exterior: *Todoroki Fenders from Japan www.todoroki2222.com *JDM Toyota Window Visors *JDM Toyota sidemarkers *Full Carbon Fiber Lip Kit by Dynamic Innovations *Full Carbon Fiber Duckbill Trunk by Aerojacket-painted white *Beat Sonic Roof Antenna *Beat Sonic Rear Window Visor *Rear Diffuser *Swissvax- Crystal Rock by Glossworks Interior: *Tanabe Revel VLS Gauges for: Boost/ air & fuel/ water temp/ water pressure/ oil temp/ oil pressure *MSAuthority pillar 3guage pod *steering column 2guage pod by perrin *GT Exact fit Seat covers *Carbon Fiber accent trim from Black Beat Motor *BeatRush white shift knob *Sidebrake Drift Knob Suspension: *KW Variant 3 Coilovers *KW HLS (Hydraulic Lift System) *Ground Control Camber Plate with Stress Bar *Tanabe Strut bar Rear *Tanabe Front and Rear Sway Bar *Figs Rear LCA Wheels: *SSR FORMULA MESH 19x9 front ---19x10 rear Instagram pictures @migelarmas88 Team R-RYDES SOCAL VALLEY 86 club [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=heQmO4QuPYY&feature=plcp"]fr-s tanabe medalion touring catback with tanabe front pipe - YouTube[/ame] [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=82GyYR31cQU&feature=plcp"]Fr-s tanabe medalion catback / tanabe front pipe - YouTube[/ame] More to come! The car looks great!
Any chance you could take some photos from the front of the car with the wheels pointed straight ahead? I'm curious to see the tire/fender clearance is with the +37 offset. It looks to be close to flush - I'm considering a similar setup and don't want to see the wheel/tire poking out past the front fender. |

Can you please post clearer pictures of your car? Especially showing a profile of the wheels to show how proud/concave the spokes are. I am thinking about the same wheels but in a different color and would like to see the concaveness of the wheels.

Hello everyone!
updates on the fr-s. just got my vortech supercharger installed last week!!! this is the 9psi with upgraded smaller pulley that is being sold now by vortech superchargers!! so far mods are: KW V3 coilovers VORTECH SUPERCHARGER ---V3 H67B COMPRESSOR WITH 3.48" DRIVE PULLEY @9PSI --- 294 Crank hp / 210 tq AEROJACKET LIP KIT AEROJACKET CARBON FIBER FULL TRUNK TANABE MEDALION TOURING CATBACK EXHAUST TANABE FRONT / REAR SWAY BARS TANABE FRONT / REAR STRUT BARS BEAT SONIC ANTTENNA JDM CORNER LIGHTS GT EXACT FIT SEAT COVERS (FROM FRS86) LLOYD FRONT FLOOR MATS TENZO WHEELS .....(BUT SOON TO BE SSR SP1) here is my review regarding the new upgrade: First off, this is what i was looking for in the frs. this car is well balanced but always wanted a little more power (a lot of people can relate to this here lol). living in Cali, i wanted to have my upgrades street legal. So I came across Vortech superchargers. Their superchargers are carb approved (wiating on stamping) and the power gains were linear on the power band. I take my fr-s to shows and events in SOCAL such as Autocon, Formula D car show, toyotafest and much more so when you see it ill be right next to it so ask questions anytime the kwv3 coilovers and the chassis bracing from tanabe really brings this car to life as well. the car feels much more rigid and stiff thru the corners yet soo comfortable that it doesnt sacrifice the ride quality for daily driving. the tanabe medalion catback has a nice deep tone. no drone thru the cabin. This Build has been very exciting and met very cool people. What i also found being a part of the ft86 community and frs and brz owners is that the people are more humble and friendly. Reallyyyyy like that compared to other communities. Makes it easier to start a conversation with people at meets too. here are some pictures. Enjoy!! will be posting better / more pix as they come out. catch me on instagram because i sually post my pix first there ----- migelarmas88 Last edited by kinryu; 12-08-2013 at 03:23 PM. |
