Maarten's drift/show GT86
Hi,
Let me first introduce myself. My name is Maarten and I live in Belgium. I'm 24 (2015) and I bought my GT86 second hand with 63.000km in november 2015. It's a silver 2013 model with navigation and rear parking sensors, leather seats and a center arm rest. So the car as I bought it (at least after a good wash): The first thing i did was test the practicality of this car. And I have to say, it didn't disappoint me. 3 of us went on a 2000km road trip to Austria to participate in the red bull crashed ice event there. Packing 2 full ice hockey gears, an extra set of skates and clothes for 4 days for 3 people. Fitted with a good set of winter tires we set of through Germany over the autobahn. Reaching a speed of up to 240km/h (granted slightly down hill) but 200km/h was easy to maintain and still quite comfortable. Well... It was a great experience. The car did really wel. Even had some fun in the mountains with the car on some twisty roads as there was no snow yet. Then in Belgium, snow hit us drift fun!! Anyway... the second thing I did with it was a drift event at our local race track, circuit zolder. This was during the race wars event where allot of show cars come. And in the end, I had the dirtiest car on the entire event But I had great fun. Learned allot and I'll definitely do it again. After lowering the car I also did a 500 km tour to the Nurburgring and of course, who can resist doing a few laps there. Sadly I have no photo's of this. That's about it for the activities for now. Here come the mods. First mod: KW V3 Installed them myself, took me about half a day. I'm really happy with them, the ride is allot better. High speed driving (autobahn) is allot more stable, the car doesn't dance around anymore as it used to. And it looks great. I did raise the rear a bit after this photo as I thought this was somewhat to low compared to the front and I don't want a slammed car. After a loooong search I finally found the wheels I wanted. They are soo nice. Japan racing JR-21 Hyper black Front: 18x8.5 ET35 235/40r18 Rear: 18x9.5 ET35 255/35r18 Tires: Continental contisportcontact 5 Slight rub on really heavy corners. Not sure what it is yet. But I think I should have taken a 245/35 in the rear. Or I'll have to roll the fenders. Not sure what I'll do yet. For now this is it. Next things will be paint taillights red, exhaust, clutch, lips, and some more. Not in any particular order. |
