How's progress on the UEL headers?

No CEL?, with no cat? Programmed out or the old spacer on the rear sensor trick?

Neither. I'm yet to hear of any 86 with the cat removed that's shown the CEL.
I'm sure there will be a code thrown in the background, but no CEL and no difference in performance.

Mmmm interesting .. so you're saying that 4-1 header would be the best performance choice for this vehicle .. could you explain more?
I'm curious as this will directly impact what kind of header I'll be looking for in the future

Does the stock skid plate still fit with your headers?

The only other viable option (for performance) is 4-2-1. For which we didn't have enough room to have the optimal primary and secondary lengths. I'm not claiming this is the best setup for this vehicle. Just the best we could manage with the limitations we have.

as simply put as possible...it is 4 pipes turning into 2 pipes which turn into 1 pipe...perfect example is the picture above with the stock header. the stock is 4-2-1 and the other is 4-1 (or 4 pipes merging into 1)...

The car is in the workshop now getting UEL headers. I'll update the UEL Header thread when I have more info/pics.

Actually, very easy. Disconnect both O2 sensors under the bonnet, remove splash guard, undo 2 header to exhaust bolts, undo 6 nuts holding headers to the heads, drop it down, swap O2 sensors over, bolt it all back up and plug O2 sensors back in. Took an hour including taking a bunch of pics. Would be much quicker to do again as it's always slow going the first time.
