Yep, I'm going senile...

The SA Biking Acadamy track day at Kyalami that was cancelled was 28 Sept, not 24 Sept.

Hey guys, thanks for the info! This is great news.

Just need some advice though. What is the tyre wear like on a day out on the skidpan?

Should I expect to have a spare set available when I'm done?? Lol

Would love to join in on the action. Learning how to handle this car better would be awesome!

Hi Roy, the skidpan is always wet, therefore when you are drifting it almost like aquaplaning, so you not really damaging your tyres and wear is negligible.

The only skid marks that might cost you...are the ones on your seat that your passengers might make.

There are guys like @Freedom and @qbzee007 who have been participating at Super Trax skid pan almost every month from the beginning of the year, and their tyres are in great condition. (except for @qbzee007... But that was doughnuts on a dry uneven road :-D FAR away from the skidpan)

It is quite cool, you will go through around 10 gymkhanas through the day, and each course teaches you something different that will improve your driving skill set. Plus there's two open sessions to just mess around and go crazy.

Hope to see you there at the next event.

Cheers

Awesome!! Hearing that is like music to my ears :-D

Tyre wear was my main concern. I will definitely look at trying to attend an event soon.
I guess i should also stop doing doughnuts on dry roads if I wana preserve my tyres lol.

This is my first rear wheel drive car and it's absolutely addictive when you get the back going sideways!!

#GoPlay is probably the most appropriate catch phrase for this car :-) I'm sure the skidpan will just enhance the experience :-)

Thanks again for the info! Really appreciate it.

I'm tempted...
I was there today for the Historic Racing, and a mate is trying to entice me back up there again on the 19th.
He does the skidpan gymkhana thing with his STI, but he's keen to get onto track and wants me to show him the ropes.

It's just a tiring 700km trip up and down from Nelspruit, and my old arse gets so sore...

It gets worse...
Today was just a "spectate" day.
I sometimes do Midvaal and back in a day (800), with 4 sessions on track (100+ of arse clenching)

If you've got lots of money, please build me a track closer to my home.
Or, build me a home closer to a track.

No I didnt put in any track time. I was busy playing on the skidpad.

I think next month I will definitely get on the track.

Funny I though u were the because from a distance i saw the same colour 86 as yours with MP plates then when I got close realised it wasnt you.

That guy was on the track with the RGM one and a RMS powered one.

I think it might have been his first time.
