I just bought a '13 Civic Si sedan. I really wanted a BRZ, but my 5 yo son insisted it isn't a family car, he didn't even like squeezing in the back!

As far as I can tell, the Civic Si is the next best thing in a lightweight, sporty sedan. No, it's not as much fun, but until (if) they come out w/ a sedan derivative of the twins, it will have to do.

BTW, I got it for $21,235 w/ Nav and 0.9% financing for 60 months. I can live w/ a few shortcomings for a deal like that, esp. considering I have a Z06 for a track car.

I traded my 2009 Si sedan for my FRS. It was awesome except for being front wheel drive. For the standard features, like moon roof, steering wheel mounted stereo controls, etc. you can't beat the price! I would buy another!

A little history: bought a brand new 2012 si in January of this year and traded it in this past weekend for the brz. This comparison will be solely on daily driving as I don't track or anything else (yet).

In terms of power for daily commute the si wins hands down. It is much more torquey and responsive during the lower rpms. Another positive I liked on the si was the steering whel controls. Really liked using the phone through those buttons, adjusting volume, and controlling the cruise control (remember a lot of daily driving here). Also the electronic cluster was good, kinda sucks to go back to having needles in the gauges.

Why I like the brz more: I am 5'4" and on a good day, 5'5" so these seats fit me perfectly and comfortably. The si seats felt extremely wide and big. Sometimes I drive my two kids to school but they too like the rear seats better than the si. The overall handling and cosmetic designs is much better than the si which is no surprise. The si is starting to feel like an SUV to me after only 3 months and the brz definitely made me feel at home again. The best part: having conversations with strangers at the gas pump about this car. Nobody ever wanted to ask about the civic. Lost about three thousand on trading in the civic but definitely fell its worth now.

What makes me happy at the end if the day and th winner of this comparison: if you guess brz you are right lol
People ask about the twins because it's such a departure from what they're used to seeing. I had one of the first '06 Civic Si coupes and even pedestrians would stop and stare at it. That stopped when the granny crowd started buying coupes too and never happened for the 9th gens because (typical Honda as of late) more of the same. My FR-S gets noticed everywhere but I hope the ricer crowd doesn't ruin it (same for idiots that let their cars get beat up and not fix it). I miss the dashboard, no crickets but not the antiquated navi GUI, toy looking shifter (& crap dead pedal) and especially getting mixed up with the non Si models -sounds snobbish but for the extra performance and price there should be should something that sets it apart externally aside from two plastic Si badges and two DOHC stickers.

The civic is wrong-wheel drive. That's the problem. Price is definitely way cheaper, but then again it's always too expensive to buy the wrong kind of car for the driver.

Ford is much better than what it was a couple of years ago. I can't blame people for still feeling the stigma, but for me the Focus beats out the Civic any day.
