Red face Wheel Directory: Forgestar F14 18x9.5 +38

I'm a little frustrated .. maybe with myself. I pulled the trigger on 18x9.5 Forgestar F14's with a +38 offset.

I am running a 235/40/18 tire all around. For suspension I have HSD HR coil-overs and my height up front is pretty "flush" no gap. 1-finger gap from sidewall to fender lip. I have -1.3 camber up front.

Now .. on the street it's perfect. However on a track it's useless. The rubbing is brutal under any serious cornering. I really don't understand how anyone can say this sizing "fits" with no issues. I've seen some people reporting track use with the same sizing .. or even a 255/35 which makes no sense to me.

I went out to an auto-x course and the front was absolutely horrible.

Silly me for not doing some better measuring but .. what gives?

There's a black mark on the inner fender (non painted part, just inside the fender lip) about 3 inches long.

Who told u it would fit no issue when dropped on coilovers? I have this setup at stock suspension, and i know i cant drop my car w out excessive camber, which i personally wont do. Maybe they meant it was ok at stock or maybe a small drop?

what is your spring rates on your coils?
Sounds like you are too low.
18x9.5 really isn't an ideal wheel size for the fronts for competition on a stock car.

You'll need to double that camber setting. My car has coilovers 17x9s +35 w/ 245s w/ -2.5 & no issues.

Lesson learned. I am going to go up 0.5 inches and get my camber dialed in once my bolts show up.

Buy a second set of wheels for the track. 17s ftw!

18x9.5 up front is all for show but no go on stock body!

I run the same set up wheel set up with 245/35 rubber with -2.0 degrees front camber. Car gets tracked and B road blasted regularly.

I've had no rubbing on track and only with a really BIG g out (its happened twice in 6 months) do I get rubbing in the rear.

MOAR camber on the front

With coilovers on 18X9.5, I think a 1 inch drop or so is sufficient. I don't see a heavy drop benefiting unless you really mess with the camber adjustment. The stock spring is already a fingernail away on a +38 18X9.5 with a 245/35 tire. If I can get a little more spring clearance, there'd be no problem with hard cornering or rubbing.

I seen you on the track Sunday in Edmonton, I was going to come over and introduce myself but by the time I got down there you had left. I was also planning to run 18x9.5 wheels all around with 235/40 rubber. I won't be tracking my car often but I don't want any rubbing issues either. I'm wondering now if I should change my plans for wheels. I am lowered on Eibach Sportlines so I'm probably not quite as low as you so maybe I will get away without rubbing.

More front camber is the answer here. I will be getting my setup fine tuned over the next week, and I will definitely report back what I have to do to ensure I get no rubbing on my 18x9.5 +40 265/35/18 setup.
