So the 499 version is all I would need to buy to be able to load tunes.
Are there tuners out there doing custom tunes for specific vehicles? |

ok
I assume the tunes are "for sale" from tuners. I really have no desire to tune myself on this car so lite might be a good option. What else do I need? Specific cable or license? |

Or spend 668 and tune it yourself for life.. that is something no one else can offer right now. Or wait two more years, spend 169 for a cable, use whatever opensource software develops support, and either tune it yourself or buy a tune. I think you will start to see some hardware vendors providing base maps setup to work with their parts combinations before too long. The Entry point price for the pro version is low enough for them to make the maps available for a very minimal fee and again, there is no license to deal with.

It is going to be cheaper than Ecutek by a few hundred dollars.
From the way I understood things there is no way to lock a map so getting tuners onboard to email maps like with ecutek may be difficult. You would likely be getting tunes from other members with the personal version. The pro tuner version mainly lets a tuner flash someone's ECU who doesn't own the software or cable. Unlike Ecutek a tuner can program the ECU without the user having to buy a license. |

Ok, but if tuners aren't using it then we are on our own. I don't really want to rely on random people for tunes.

There was also something I saw about a master/slave setup where a tuner could flash from remote but Epifan would have to talk about that. You would still need a cable. |

I have already been contacted be a few who are interested, (tuners that is) it won't be long. Personaly, I would rather be able to go to the tuner of my choice for a tune rather than being forced to use an EcuTek tuner since it can often be difficult to find one in some areas. There is nothing to stop me from taking my car to any shop i want and handing them my laptop, with the personal version installed, and having them tune my car for me.

That is what the personal version is for, flashing tunes and logging only. The tuner creates the file for you, you install it.

The Lite version is for those who want to work with a tuner and is only able to load files and log.
